If you remember, I posted the thread about me getting the two new Borneo Short-Tailed Pythons and how scared I was of them.
Well, they are doing much, much better! I've named the male Claudius and the female is Panzer. Panzer is still a little territorial when we open her cage, but she no longer coils up at us. Claudius has been wonderful. I'll get him out and let him chill on my lap or around my shoulders. He's just lazy and doesn't care.
Thanks for everybody's help!

Lovely snake you got there - tho i am always cautious about having a constrictor near my neck (just in case!)

Haha. That's what my boyfriend says as well. I don't think he really cares enough to try to do anything like that. He's really lazy. That being said, I am cautious whenever I put him near my neck. :)

It's not about him being aggressive and constricting........but when a snake doesn't feel secure they hold on, and they hold on tight!
Do us all a favor, no matter how lazy he is, please don't put him around your neck without a spotter.
As totheend said, they will hold on tight if they don't feel comfortably supported, and if that happens, you *will* die without a spotter. You won't suffocate, he'll cut off the blood to your brain, and you'll black out before you can do anything. Thick bodied snakes, are very very strong, don't let their short length fool you. A thick bodied snake can do with one coil what a thin bodied snake needs their whole body to accomplish.

Even our 4foot corn manages to make my arm/hand purple the first time i handled her - there was no way i could "make" her let go without injury's (prob to her and me!!) luckily she calmed after about five minutes and loosened enough to allow blood flow back again. So much for the "owner" who rehomed her with us supposedly handling her "all the time" - dont think she has had any human contact previous to our ownership.

Every time I have him out, I make sure that my roommate or boyfriend is with me.

I appreciate the fact of having another person there but should he get hold of your neck then either you or he is gonna get hurt - an arm/hand going blue for a while isnt too much of an issue - your neck..............
I would hate to think that either of you ended up with any injury's from a totally preventable situation. Have said my piece and will shut up now.
You have a lovely snake there by the way!!

What a pretty snake!! I am sure your female will tame down in time and be as sweet as your male! Best of luck with everything

Really nice looking blood. Can't wait to see some more pics. I had a 8 foot boa get spooked a actually choke me out in under 30 seconds. She was wrap around my neck when all of a sudden she tighten up. I can bench 225lbs but i couldn't pull her off. I passed out and had just fell over when my sister in law and brother in law showed up. It take both of them to pull her off. I busted open me head when i hit the coffee table. Never let them make a complete loop around your neck.
