I would have posted in the BP section but since i took pics of my green spotted puffers ill throw them all up here, they were taken on my cell phones "5" MP camera however, they're still a little blurry, more so in the pics of the GSP's. Enjoy! :D
The GSP's remain unnamed, but we've decided on Oliver for the male BP, hes a little nippy but i'm sure he'll calm down in time.

most (if not all puffers) i believe have a toxin called dedrototoxin (i don't remember how to spell it) it is extremely deadly. that is why you have to have a license to serve it.

ah now i know what your talking about.back in the day the head chef who served puffer fish would be exicuted if he killed anyone by mistake.they cut it into very thin slices and your only allowed to eat a certain amount of it.the poisin gives the person eating it some kind of buzz.not for me im afraid.
cheers shaun

LOL i find us snake keepers have a very odd sense of humor lol. hmm... i didnt know it would give you a buzz, doesnt seem for me either. I'm all for trying different things but not worth dying over a fish dinner lol. I myself prefer Halibut ;)

hehe i was thinking the same thing after i lauphed pretty good, halibut and chips hmm now i got to have that today, my mouth is watering now,as for the puffer i stick to them as pets lol
just wondering is this your first puffer fish i read they are very hard to keep alive, even in a multi year acclimated tank. i had a salt water tank for 2 years no problems, i tried to clean some of the green algi on the back of the glass...well it was thicker than i thought and made a green dusty patch right away so i stopped cleaning...woke up the next morning everyting in the tank was dead.

well from what ive read these guys are pretty hardy, i have them in freshwater at the moment since i purchased them while they were in freshwater but ive heard they do better in brackish so in a month or so im expecting to be buying a big ol' bag of insta ocean and converting the tank slowly, i wouldnt want them to be dropped into a tank with salt and become stressed out too much even though its only 1tbsp of salt per gallon. another big thing is that these guys also have beaks which need to be worn down so shellfish and crustaceans area good source of food, snails and ghost shrimp are snacks whereas were giving them brine shrimp for their staple food item but a variety is good. These guys are very cool if you read up on them a bit id suggest them to anyone who has a love for fish!
