Am about to leave to go get the Viv's!! Just hope they are in as good condition when i get there as the guy says. He also has a load of heatlamps and hides, waterbowls, decorations etc so may be an expensive - but worthwhile - trip!!

Thats sweet. My significant other and I are going yard sale hopping today to look for furniture to convert into a permanent home for her water dragon. We were looking at Viv's but they were out of her price change and she refuses to let me front some of the money. However, I am welcome to help her do the renovations on whatever furniture she buys haha.

There will be no helping her do the renovations...there will be YOU doing the renovations while she coaches you on how to do them lol.

Lol Shaun - Give me a chance!!!

THe vivs are homemade but VERY good quality - unfortunately we have to flat pack to get them in the car so i need to reconstruct them before we can do piccies.

He also had shedloads of equipment - decorations, basking lamps (for when we get the lizards), a waterfall, a mister, waterbowls, hides, climbing wood, pretty much everything you could possibly want - slipped him £230 for the lot - reckon on rough count there is probably a grands worth of kit including the viv's.

He is gradually getting rid of all his reptiles and gear as his family expands. Have put first dibs on his 6ft arboreal vivs and and snakes/lizards htat he decides to rehome!!

Will probably rebuild the viv's tomorrow (back willing) and will then post some pictures

was only messing with ya mate, haha

sounds like youve found a really good source of cheap equiptment mate.must admit im sitting here laughing thinking how many snakes are you planning on getting now pal ??????????

a whole housefull if all the equiptment you have dib's on is anything to go by.noticed you may be getting an aboreal set up too.i can feel bigger pythons in the air mate.

congratulations on your good fortune rob, could not have happened to a nicer guy.

Thanks mate - the ones i bought today are for our current little snakes when they need to have more space - plus an empty one as i keep promising the missus that i will get her a spiny tailed monitor - have stopped the nagging for now as at least it has a home!!!

hah! looks like you found yourself quite a bit of equipment lol, you can send whatever you dont need my way ;) lol j/k sounds like a score to me though glad you have some more room for some critters :D

Ive always wanted to convert something like an armoire into a viv, anyone know how the basic structure would go? i mean, would i put a plexi glass sheet cut to the interior size in to keep the wood from rotting and seal it all with silicone or something along those lines?

ah but when you move the little guys up into their new tanks you will have all those little empty tanks.they will need filling no ?

i'm about to fill all my spare wee tanks up with garters for my wife to look after.ive got a huge soft spot for myself now.

i think your past the point of no return on that slippery slope that is a house full of reptiles, haha its a great and interesting place to be.hope the builds going well for you today mate.

Shaun, you know this as a wardrobe.

thanks for that wayne,it really had me stumped,ha,ha

a wardrobe (airmore) would make one cool big tank.you could leave it uprite for aboreal snakes or put it on its side for a big burm or retic.

sounds like a plan mate

Only managed to get one photo before the bloody camera died!! They are all empty at the moment - gonna take about a day to get through the bags of other equipment to see whats there and what (if anything) is needed to get the vivs ready for my babies. The guy had lizards in these three before so not sure if there are enough ceramic;s for the three vivs yet.

Bottom one will be for Kevin and Perry the baby corns

Middle one is for Monty the Python

top one is for the spiny tailed monitor that the missus wants.

those are very, very nice tanks mate, they look shop bought.in fact i think they look better made than the ones i bought from a shop.the doors are bigger so you see more of the inside of tank.imo thats better for watching your rep's.you can get wee stick on clear glass like handles for the doors mate.it makes it much easier to open and close without leaving tell tale finger marks on the glass.i think theyre around 3 or 4 pound a pair.you get them on line,pm me if you need the name of the shop.

Cheers Shaun - will take a look. They are bloody solid viv's i can assure you after stacking them!! All sides are 3/4 inch thick - most vivs i have seen in shops have hardboard 1/4 inch thick backs (which can also split and soak up moisture).

Had an email back from the guy who sold them - couple of months he may have two 6foot tall arboreal vivs, that he also made, for sale. I am kinda thinking that once i have bought everything he owns i will put him on a retainer to build anything else i want in the future!!!

Well (finally) i have spent today fitting out the viv's with heaters/uv lights (for the lizard). have found that one pulse thermostat doesnt work and one ceramic bulb holder is split so off to the reptile shop in next couple of days to get new ones - THEN decoration to be done so that the little critters can move into their new homes.

Photo's will then follow!

Very nice find! I had a similar find a couple of weeks ago, I drove 125 miles to pick up 3 4'x2'x2' snake cages. for $30.00 us they are in nowhere near as good condition as yours though Rob. Congrats.

Really cant wait to get it all finished now - we are hoping to collect the wife's Lizard on Friday but want to put him straight into his permanent home so there is no messing him around. This is when i get real pissed off with my back cos previously i would have just ploughed through and got the whole lot sorted in an afternoon, but patience is a virtue and all that!!!

It doesn't quite compete with rob's really nice find, but I got a bunch of aquariums today for $90. *11* 10 gallons, a 20, a 20L, a 29, and a 30L

I found 4 4x2x1 boaphile plastic cages used for only $300.00. New they would be $800.00 to $1,000.00. P.S. Your cages and set up look awesome Rob.

Thanks mate - to be honest i prefer your boaphile cages to the wooden ones but that will have to wait for future purchases.

Would love to have more space - we were hoping to be able to move house to have more space and a dedicated snake room but that is looking unlikely now. If we can find some boaphile or similar cages we would probably get them as they look neater and take up less space than the wooden ones.
