Just got home with our new corn that we have adopted.
Handled her very quickly whilst transferring her from her travel box to her viv. She seems very calm and easily handled - now resting quietly in her viv for a week or so before i get her out and try to get some piccies to post!!

lol thanks guys!! Once we are happy this one is settled eyes will be peeled for the next one to come along.
It seems like fate really - we decided to adopt another cat after losing one of ours and the same day someone posted an advert online looking for a home for their cat. Then we said about doing the same for snakes and within 48 hours there was a post on another reptile forum asking for a home for this adult corn.
Wife is hoping for a spiny tailed monitor next so keep your fingers crossed!!!

say out loud to your mrs we want to adopt loads of diamond pythons, get her to agree then that should make it the same as last twice you spoke.these things come in 3's so when you get over run with diamond pythons your scottish mate can take some off your hands.then you can be rescue slash re homing people, just a thought :wacky: from your pal in scotland.

Shauny, afraid our fave python at this point in time would be a Royal - but in the future who knows!! If a diamond were to come along i wouldn't say no tho!!

Just don't let your wonderful intentions become your demise Rob.
I'm not trying to discourage anything at all, just make sure you factor in what your feeding and vet costs are going to be... the more mouths one has to feed, the bigger the food bills get.
I allowed my obsession to get so far out of hand that I feed hundreds of mice a month to my snakes.

Well if this works then here are the first photos of sunny (Wayne will be impressed!!!)
The first one is literally as i took her from her travel box and put her in the viv and the second one i captured by sitting next to the viv for the last five hours waiting for her to come out for her evening stroll!!

Thank you all - she is VERY pretty - in real life her colours dont look quite so vibrant which i think looks better than in the pics - the white bits are more of a creamy yellow and the orange is kinda washed out almost browny orange colour.

:Wow:Beautiful snake Rob. I like your set up to.:)
Hell yeah I`ll see some of that action! If she really is a she Rob, we should get her mated by one of my randy males! She`s lovely! :)

Well - kinda hoping she IS a she. The guy that had her called her Jake when she was little (Jake the Snake - how original) he then got his vet to give her the once over as he was gonna get her a female to mate with. The vet told him it was female not male - then the guys wife got preggers and said that she wouldn't have a snake in the house with a baby and that they needed the extra space.
Thats the story as i know it so ... fingers crossed!! We are tentatively considering when our young males are older and bigger (they are about 8months old now) that we will mate them then.

Well we are now nearly 6 months down the line and today Sunny (the snake that had been handled EVERY DAY before we got it - NOT!) came out of her hide and sniffed my hand and easily let me stroke her back before quietly going back into her hide. Usually in order to get her out for feeding or handling there is a semi "fight" as she does not want out of her hide.
All the time and patience is starting to show results and am hoping soon that she will be like our babies and come out of the viv onto my hand of her own volition. That day will be quite emotional for me i think.
