Hi All,

Now that I am somewhat set up in my new digs, and as mentioned on earlier postes, I am considering breeding some of my herps.

I would like some thoughts on breeding "monty" He is in great health, and around 3 yo.

Also, if you know any resources/links on breeding please let me know

Thanks
Brian

There's lots of resources for breeding Royal Pythons. You can find books on breeding at certain pet and book stores. Also you can search on google.com for webpages with breeding info.

Thanks everyone, I will follow up with the links supplied.

Jeff: ... I guess you missed the text: if you know any resources/links on breeding please let me know ....and I was letting members know his age, and what he looks like.

Furthermore...What is the general age that a male is "ripe" to breed.

Thanks
Brian

The "healthy minimum" for males to start breeding is at 850 grams and 14 months of age........

I was referring to the quote:

I was dumbfounded as to what thoughts you desired on the subject. I didn't know if you were asking if you could, if you should, how to do it, why to do it, etc etc etc.

That's all.

Linds listed some great sites. If in fact you do wish to breed Monty (you'll most certainly need a mate) they are good places to start.

Hey Jeff,

Yes jeff I am interested on your thoughts. I will be more specific next time.

I want to get into some breeding, and was considering starting with my ball, then continuing with some of the other herps I have as I now almost (HA) have all my "favourites" I now want to douple up on them, and have the experience of herp birth.
(I am not doing it for the money eventhough i could use it)

So, what is your opinion....

Best regards
Brian

Heh heh, honestly, I haven't a clue what you are asking? I'll give you so many thoughts it'll make yer head spin, but I don't know what thoughts you want me to give you!! LOL! Honestly.

I won't tell you whether or not to breed (your decision). I won't tell you whether or not you can breed them (I haven't the foggiest). So that leaves how its done and why its done. Well Linds already posted some great sites and its done because you want to. If you want to breed, which I think you already preconceived that you do, then do it. Get a mate, cycle them like all the sites say, and have fun hatching eggs.

Does this cover what you were asking? If not, then ask away and I'll try my best. But I cannot tell you whether you should or shouldn't breed, or whether or not you are able to etc etc. That's all completely up to you.

Hey jeff..Fair enough

What I did not want to hear was: Its not an good idea to breed because the market is saturated with unwanted balls and common lizards therefor you will be stuck looking after them.

So, thank you and if and when I do have any questions I will ask away

Hey I have a question...What size enclosure is required to hold 2 balls? (I do realize this is a loaded question)

Cheers for now!

Ha ha, don't house 2 Ball Pythons together. Adult Balls can easily be housed in 32x18x12.
