8:00 pm a knock on the door, Brandon a young man down the street informs us that his mother had a hissy fit about his leopard gecko, and he wanted to know if we would take it.
He gave us the cage, basking lamp, UTH, all the accessories along with a handsome well cared for lizard.
Pictures soon, the poor thing needs to settle in.

i love the leo. i have been looking into lizards a little resently and kinda want a leo (or a chameleon lol)

If you've never kept lizards before, definitely go with a leo over a chameleon. Chameleons are much more delicate and challenging to keep healthy. I have a pair of leos I've had since I was an undergrad in college and they are cute, friendly, and pretty much problem-free over the years. They are in a 12"x12"x12" Exo-Terra with calcium sand, hides, and a water dispenser bowl. I feed them calcium-dusted crickets every week, and once every 6-8 weeks I dust the crickets with a reptile multivitamin instead of the calcium. Another great gecko to keep is the New Caledonian Crested Gecko. These are also easily handled and have a much more omnivorous diet - you need to feed them mostly crested gecko diet (CGD) with crickets and small roaches as a supplement.

I have a dubia colony, would the Leo eat baby roaches??
That would be great if it did, I have plenty to spare.
They will eat roaches. I have a Turk and an Orangehead colony. The Leos love em.

That's a handsome Leo you have there! (A little late for the congrats, but congrats!).
I saw an anery or albino Leo a few weeks back and was on the fence about getting him. (Not a lizard guy...so correct me about the anery/albino thing!)

You putting them both in the same viv?
I have been considering it, ample space for both of them, 7 total hides and a vertical and horizontal heat gradient

NEver tried two carpets together but think it is not such a good idea - will let others tell what they think.........

My old neighbor kept GTP's together and he said as long as there are ample hides, a comfortable gradient and plenty of space they will be fine, i put in seven because i heard about snakes getting bullied out of the good hides, so there are many in the tank, at a guess id say its around 5.5x2.5x2.5 give or take, im also going to be putting in a shelf or three although since it is a glass tank I am having difficulty with that. I'm thinking plywood base, with 2x4 columns, that way i can build a hole interior for the cage that can be removed and inserted easily
