View Full Version : Caiman?
My friend has some sort of caiman, Im guessing its a dwarf caiman. Im gonna have him send me some pics so I can be certain. Its between two and two and a half feet. Have to get age. Dont you wish people would be more detail oriented.
Anyway he offered to give it to me, not sure if I want it though. At this point Im not even 100% sure what it is. Im doing my research now, and would like some info that maybe some experienced keepers wished they knew before they took one in. Or some info they considered was under rated before getting one.
Oh and if anyone can fill me in on the American Alligators I see at shows that are supposedly going to stay under three feet long  seems fishy
Thanks

Also check your local and state laws. In my state having a american alligator with out a permit can get you 3 years in jail and up to $5,000.00 fine. So make sure you check the laws were you live. And permit for this aren't cheap. Also anything that gets this big and deadly needs a big secure housing. Full grown it need something bigger than most living room to house it in. At least 25 x 25. If it's a dwarf caiman maybe a little smaller. Also alligator can get to 14 feet or more.
Thank you all for the info. I'm going to pass on whatever he has. A caiman sounds like too much. I'm sure he doesnt know what he has, and I cant provide what a caiman needs let alone something bigger. Google is always a good resource but so is this forum.
