aspen looks great in your tanks but it tends to end up in the snakes mouth when feeding.if your willing to take the jungle out and feed it in a tub, then imo aspens the one.it looks really natural and makes a big difference on how nice your tank looks.
cheers shaun

You need to check with Mike Curtin (curtinherps@yahoo.com). He breeds some of the most amazing carpets I have ever seen, and is a great guy and a pleasure to work with to boot. He is out of New Jersey.

Im getting a jcp next week. I heard they're very aggressive, how long does it usually take for them tame down with handling?

Carpets are generally not aggressive snakes- they can be nippy and defensive as babies, but once they have 2-3 feet of size they generally calm down. As adults, the vast majority are calm, curious snakes.

I have 3 carpet python and use to have 2 other jungles and none have ever been aggressive. Get a baby and with reg handling they tame down in no time. Once they settle in i start handling about every other day. As for substrates i just started useing Yesterday News. It made of 100% recycled paper. It's a cat liter but works good for reptile and it cheap. Like $15.00 for 30lbs bag. Remember once you get a jungle you'll in up addicted to carpet pythons. Make sure to have branch and hides they love to climb. Mine only use their hide to set on. I never see them in the hides just on them. Please post some pics when you get it.

First congrats! You can't go wrong with Mike- the thing that really impresses me with him is that you can ask him anything about the snake at any time, and he will still care and help you out. He's a great guy.
I have a male Jungle/jag sibling from him, High Voltage, who is sooo bright he almost hurts my eyes! I have a picture of him in my photo gallery on here I think. Snakes bred by Mike also tend to be pretty calm- Volt was a yearling when I got him and is fine. As for names, wait until you get the snake and get an idea for his personality. I could never name a snake until it was physically in my collection. I have one snake I've had for 3 weeks and still haven't thought of a name for...lol.
