I just bought a new snake and she was fed on live. She has some cut's one near neck and the other lower on the neck. The look kind of bumped out and the one closer to the head look's worse. Now I don't really know how it happend I would gusse a rat but she seem's fine and they are both scabed and was wondaring what I should do? Also for a kingsnake wich is what she is, is it east to switch them over onto F/T rather then live. Also she was only fed every other week I will feed her soon and more often if she can handle it and she probably has a big appetite.
I`d have them looked at by a herp vet to be safe, the snake may need a course of anti biotics. If when he sheds, it comes off nice and cleanly in one go, that`s a good sign. If it doesn`t, and clumps of skin stay attached right where the injuries are that would indicate a potential problem and can make the injury worse by collecting skin. A vet is the best person to talk to here. As for feeding it more often than it has previously been fed, how big is it? If it`s an adult snake, it only wants feeding every two weeks, snakes are very prone to getting fat in captivity so beware of feeding it all it wants. It should be round but not all puffy looking. You shouldn`t really be able to see the spine standing proud on it`s back. How`s about a photo, of the snake and it`s injuries. Switching from live to thawed isn`t something i`ve had to deal with but I`d imagine if any snake is going to be easy to switch it`ll be a Kingsnake ! lol Those guysget quite excited at the whiff of food. Maybe brain the food item if it won`t take it at first, they just can`t resist the smell of brains and blood..... Mmmmm yummy lol :)

if your kingsnakes anything like mine (he eats anything) you shouldnt have much trouble getting yours swapped over to f/t rats.if you cant post pic's,try and find out how old your snake is.then we can let you will know how often to feed it.are the scabs nice and dry and not seeping.if you want peace of mind then get a vet to give it a health check.

She feed frozen no problem and I will see the pattern of eating and washroom. The cut's are fine I talk to a snake pro and he said they will be fine. They are dr and should be no problem in the next couple shed's.
