Feebo
02-26-10, 05:27 AM
lol Yeah my wife says that, my pairs are always to be found curled up together lol Although you obviously don`t want to project human emotions onto the, it`s very difficult to not think they`re content with each others company sometimes..... :)

02-26-10, 09:28 AM
My white-lipped python pair is always curled up together. I've tried separating them and they refused to eat and acted very stressed out until I put them back together. I do take one out to a feeding container when I feed, but other than that they are together and seem quite content.

Feebo
02-26-10, 11:48 AM

This is 2 years old, Magma died at 3 months of age in 2008, I saved up and dropped $200 for that snake, man was I miffed off. A forum member from Thamnophis.com made a statue of this pose for me.

My avatar must also qualify?? That is "mutt" my accidental hybrid garter I adopted, the guy was going to "put down" the whole litter.

Mutt is 1/2 Eastern garter snake and 1/2 checkered garter snake. He's a cheeky little dude.

Aqua always seems interested in the camera... Found him under a rock in an ice cold spring immobilized by the temperatures.

Probably a good thing I flipped that rock over, it was late October and winter was on the way, night frosts had already begun, and he was stiff from the cold.

he's been here about 3 1/2 years now.

03-10-10, 08:44 AM
Thanks! Esmeralda and Archimedes are both so very calm and sweet-hearted. I am very blessed to have them. My other ETB and 2 female GTPs are very docile as well. I am very selective when adding arboreals to my collection and make sure I am getting fairly tame ones. It really isn't all that hard to find tame emeralds and chondros if you are patient and always keep your eyes open.

The dock i was standing on had a 4 foot safety rail all the way around it. There's know way they can get on the dock. I just reach over an took the pic. So actually it would had to jump almost 7 to 8 feet out of the water to bite my hand. Which i found out later they can do. Willow those are some awesome head shot. You got some really sweet snakes there.:)

Nice to put a face to the name... Well, I did my clean today and took a load of photos, 139 photos to be exact! Out of those I got ten suitable for the headshots thread and about twenty other good ones I`ll post at some point. So here we go....
This is Troy, my biggest Royal python, she`s such a sweetheart, she didn`t make any fuss at all when I had to give her injections over eight weeks recently....
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk294/feebix/headshots004.jpg
Ooooh I LOVE this photo, this is Bogle (Bow Gle) my Giant Malagasy Hognose, his eyes are something else !
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk294/feebix/headshots007-Copy.jpg
The plates on his head are reeeeally pronounced aswell! He really is a proper looker ! I`ll get him a female one day when he`s all grown up....
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk294/feebix/headshots014.jpg
Aaaw this is Steve `o, one of my Corns, he has a special place in my heart he does, not that I don`t love all my snakes but he`s one of the special ones for some reason. Named after the late great Steve irwin....

I have 2 Pueblan, both hate being touched.

Beautiful animals, great for display, but the just don't want to be picked up.

Musk factories.

03-10-10, 06:48 PM
Yup ! How big are yours? Pancho has been such a slow grower ! I can`t remember what size they get to now off hand, I think they`re a small species, 3ft max type size. He`s lovelt to look at though, he doesn`t mind being seen as long as he`s not touched lol :D Fair dooz, I can do no touchy mostly :)

Feebo
03-10-10, 06:54 PM
Cool, an inspiring Giant Hog eh? :) I reeeeally wanted to handle him today when I was checking him, I wonder if full on hot owners feel the same? I`m just used to being able to handle them ! lol Looking at that Caimen, or is it kaimen? I recon my big Blood will be about as strong as that thing ! lol I had him out today to clean his tank and he is just huge now ! His head even seems to have gotten quite a bit bigger! It`s just unreal how much power he`s got behind him, it`s difficult too because they`re so squashy ! lol It`s like trying to wrangle a runaway beer belly ! lol :D

to keep in "tune" with the head shots, here is my old guy..."Oreo"
He's close to 4 foot long, I got him as a "retired" breeder some years ago.

I used to have a Pueblan milk, and she was a spazz nut! She'd crap and musk all over me, so I basically didn't handle her at all because it was just too stressful for her. I have an albino Honduran and he is very calm and easy to work with. He moves a lot, but he's calm and has never peed, musked, or crapped on me. Maybe it's just a Pueblan thing?

I was watching my mentally handcapped 9 year old boy to make sure he didn't get to close to the pointy end of the alligator my daughter was holding. He's 10 now but mentally he's about 2. He as Autism and ADHD. He's nonverbal. (doesn't talk at all) I was scared, but not for me for him. He kept acting like he wanted to pet it like it was a dog.

Feeding day today, I thought I`d grab a quick shot of China the Cornsnake. I can never remember if she`s albino or Snow, and what the difference is, can anyone enlighten me? I`d lean toward albino because the pigment is missing in the eyes. I bred her a year back and I`d planned to rest her for a year or two then breed her again but she seems to be having trouble putting weight on, she always looks quite slight. I think a check up is in order there. Anyway, here she is.....

He kept acting like he wanted to pet it like it was a dog.

my apologies marvelfreak,if i had knew the reason for your look in the picture,i would NEVER have made light of the situation with what i meant as a bit witty banter.i am sorry to hear of your sons illness.my wife and i have 4 children,2 9 month old twin grandchildren and a third grandchild due on april the 6th.i am a family man like you and would never take a situation like yours lightly.kimberly is so right in saying, your son has a very good mother and father, who takes their kids places that show what this world has to offer.once again mate i am sorry for my mistake.

wow marvel, i ve worked with kids with severe autism throughout highschool and i know how hard it is, i couldnt imagine how hard it is on the parents, but i also know how rewarding it is! i found that my favourite student there was nonverbal but would communicate in other ways and whenever he saw the animals at the zoo his face would light up! definitely give you kudos for that marvel! anyways im really liking your pics and all of these headshots, makes me feel like i need to take a few of my own hehe :D im sure you all wont mind if i post some pics soon :P

cheers shaun I wish i knew it's age. I got it about a month ago and it bigger than my bredli carpet. I am guessing it's about 9 month to a year at least. And shaun do worry about what you say it was all in good fun which is how i took it.:) I was just explaining why i looked worry. And i do look scared in the picture. Which i was a little. You can't hold one of those awesome creatures and not be a little scared. Even at that size they have amazing power and could take a hand off. emseeKAY can't wait to see your pictures.

I just seen one at a pet store last night. I thought it look the same. I have always love how some snakes colors morph with age. That what made me fall in love with bredli carpet. Every shed the color changes a little more. Also found out they have a brazilian rainbow boa coming in next week. I told him i been wanting one so he going to try to get a second one. Said the last one he had was gone three hours after putting it out. When i told my wife about it she said we'll see after we pay bills. That means yes 90% of the time.

I second that....

I almost always take the camera into the reptile room when I feed.

Don't really need a super expensive camera either, I have a little Sanyo 10 mega pixel that takes fine photos for posting on the web.

Photo editing software is always a plus as well.

I had a Kodak now i got a Nikon 12MP coolpix. I like it better because to get a head shot with the Kodak i had to zoom in and if the snake moved it was blurry. With the Nikon i can take a pic then go back later zoom in on the part of the pic i want to. This way their not blurry.

Stunning ! I`d love to have a go at something like the second above, I love the shadows ! I can`t seem to do that, my flash washes it out, did you take that without a flash then?
I took a few headshots for this thread again today, I haven`t done it for a while so I thought it was about time. This first one is Sunday my grumpy Blood python, a second after this was taken he struck at my face ! lol I was being cheeky though, trying to open the glass to get a better shot....

Hillary is right. It's also call a bredli carpet. As they get older they turn orange to a brick red and are just beautiful snakes. Feebo i open the curtain so i have sunlight coming in from one side of the room an get on the other side (so the snake inbetween) and take the pics. that how i get the shadow look. That and if the seneor picking up to much light the flash doesn't go off. Most of the time i am not even trying to do it. Just dumb luck mostly. P.S. as always Feebo some wickedly sweet pics. Ok i just went through all the pics and they are awesome. what type of garter snake is Sky Wayne it is awesome and i wouldnt mind having one myself

Sky is a Puget Sound Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis pickeringi).

I acquired him from the "infamous Bob", he's unscrupulous at best, and a poacher... I found out AFTER I sent the creep money.

I had to take my snake to the vet mere days after purchase, he had infections and mites. So after spending $100 for a snake that this guy scooped up out of the woods, I spent another $150 for creme, oral antibiotics, a pancure treatment and a full mite treatment. Ever try administering oral antibiotics to an angry snake?

He's a vibrant healthy snake now, had him almost 4 years, he is a flighty animal, I seldom handle him. He will tag my hand nearly every time I reach in, unless I bribe him with food first.

I have a friend with 2 females she wants me to stud Sky with, I get 1/2 the litters, so I should have some available that are CBB before season end.

If not, I know a few people with pairs, so I can probably make one happen for you.
