Ok here's another one that is probably obvious to those of you who have been slithering around here for a while.
My BCI's favourite spot in his enclosure is in his water dish. Is this normal? Could I be missing something in his tank that makes him want to be in the water most of the time? He shed last week and didn't seem to spend as much time in there before that. I was goig to take him out to hold him earlier and he backed up under the water and submerged his head. I'm assuming this was his way of telling me to get lost!

and that particular BCI had an extremely bad case of mites. Other than that, if you've provided him/her with a good hide, i'm really not too sure why. It might be worth a trip to the vet.

Checked for mites and found nothing. Figures I was at the vet yesterday with my Beardies. oh well he is going to have to wait a couple of days and we'll be off again

What are the temps in the cage? There is no need to go to the vet with such a simple problem. Explain to us how you keep him and heat him and I'm sure we can help you out.
Thanks,

To me it sounds like a humidity problem or a lack of hide spot .. maybe your heat s too high too ...
As Darren said .. let us knoe the details .. we could help ..
An other option is he simply likes the water!

all his temps and stuff are going to be messed up for a while. I took him to a friends today who has dealt with mites and they showed me how to check for them. We treated him with Nix and got two off him. I'll be cleaning his enclosure in the morning and nixing it before he goes back in. Tonight his home is a rubermaid with a heat pad under and holes drilled in the sides...sorry buddy!
At least it didn't cost me a vet visit to find that yes he did have a couple of mites on him. Hopefully the treatments clear up the problem before it becomes a big one!
