My Banded King

This is little Toot, my Banded Kingsnake. Even when he was worm sized he had a really powerful little bite on him ! I had to peel him a couple of times and he obviously didn`t think much of it and had a chew on my hand. I was really surprised at the amount of pressure he was able to exert in his bite! He`s a beautiful little guy. Has anyone else here got an adult? I`ve never even seen a picture of an adult and I`d love to !

Cheers :) He`s growing reeeealy slowly lol Eventually he`ll be a four or five footer apparently but you`d never guess by the rate he`s growing at ! He`s going to be one gorgeous snake if he gets that big....

Ooooh thirty four at the moment I think :) They started off in our bedroom, then there were so many we had to move out of that room to make room for more snakes ! lol Now they all live in my snake room where my wifes also works as an architect and we sleep in the small bedroom :) I`ve got a Malagasy Hognose coming on wednesday too, nice..... :)

Named after Tootunkamoon, if that`s how you spell it lol Because he`s a King... I like to find some sort of link and then come up with a cryptic name for my snakes :) He`s gorgeous int he... :)

Yeeeeah Toot`s a good name :) I just wish I could think of one for my new Malagasy Hognose ! I`m reading through place names and people`s names in Madagascar but nothing usable yet.... I thought about calling him Voodoo but decided I didn`t like it enough. I might look for plant or mushroom names in Madagascar actually, those usually have nice sounding names....

Mark those are just beautiful!!!! I don`t suppose you have a picture of an adult in your hand for scale? I`ve actually never seen an adult. Seeing those pictures has made me think I`ll pair mine up when it`s big enough and breed them, those shots are fab! :)

he is a wee cutey mate,can see how you just couldnt resist him,haha i just sold the only kingsnake i had,he was a desert kingsnake.re growth it was his second year he seemed to do a lot of growing.his first year he hardly changed much.but as said the second year he just took off,hitting the 4ft mark.girth wise he was a little less than the girth of a juce bottle cap (sorry i couldnt think of what to compare him to).im thinking in his 3rd year he will beef up girth wise with maybe add a little bit of length.he was a great wee snake,never bit,musked or pooed.he was my youngest sons who got bored of him.i kept him up until i needed space.but im happy to say he's now with a lovely couple of girls who keep him as a pet.so he'll be getting the attention he deserves.

All the pics of the adults are taken in the standard size rubbermaids they live in, all the nesting box photos the nesting boxes are the shoebox size ones if that helps at all?
GBs tend to grow really slowly, part of it being is that they do not tend to eat anything for the first 3-4 months more often than not.
Even then they grow really slow compared to a Corn or Cal King say, THX Mark
P.S. colud also scale them to the blue shop towels that fit 1.5 wide by 2 long in the bins, standard size sheets.
edit - typically takes 3-4 years for males & 4-5 years for females to be of breedable size IMHO, like I said they grow slowly

Yeah I figured he`d/she`d be a long time getting to breeding size, I can wait, I`ve got a lot of patience :) I`d just like to actually see one on a hand lol that`s just the best way to get an idea of size.....
