I am going to my first Expo on sunday. I am just going to look around. I dont think I am going to buy a snake because it is so cold and I just want to wait. But when going to these Expo's I know sometimes there are sick snakes here. Are there any like pointers I should know about? Like what so I look out for? Thanks:)

Which expo? I think the one in Hamburg Pa is coming soon. I never went but always wanted to. I was either busy or didn't want to pal around without a pal. I often wondered if you really can get decent deals at them. Not necessarily for reptiles.. but supplies.. enclosuresand so forth. I've been robbed at dog expos already

They use to have reptile shows once a month in Peoria IL. 20 miles from where i live. Me and my friend went to them a least once every 4 months. Thay always had great deals , but half of the dealers shouldn't own reptile let lone sell them. They tell you anything to get the sell. Give bad advices to people. That's what got us kicked out and barred. My friend Shawn ask a guy a question about a black borneo he want to buy.( asked if it was CB) the guy said it didn't matter. Shawn said it did. Then a lady looking at getting one of other ones ask Shawn what the different is. He told her, So then she asked him he said he didn't know he never asked the guy he got them from. So she didn't get one and neither did Shawn. the guy was pissed and said we were starting trouble and we were removed and told not to come back. Fun thing about a year later the guy was arrested an the reptile show shut down after him a two dears got in trouble for selling alligators. Which are illegal in IL.

Serves him right then anyone selling should know everything there is to know about there "product" in this case dealing with living animals it is especially important! Im sorry to hear you got kick out because of this kind of person. :(

Oh well. There's nothing I hate more than people give bad advice and flat out lying to make a buck. Expecially when a animals life is at stake. Like when you go to a pet store an ask about a snake, and they tell you it friendly, but they won't pick it up. Or when you ask a question and they give you a answer that leave you thinking what an idiot. They don't know anything about this animal they're trying to sell. When i got my jungle carpet the guy said she was nippy and he didn't want to pick her up. But if i wanted to get her out i could. I bought her and she has never striked at or try to bite me. One thing that always got me how people can work in a pet store, but are afraid of half the animals they sell.

P.S. where are you located in Ontario? im in peterborough for school at Fleming college, and live in the country in the oshawa area, there is so many people around here from ontario!

I'm in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Spent the first 30 years of my life in Toronto.

Just in Southwestern Ontario alone: a dozen at least.
Depending on what you're looking for at these shows though, the only ones worth going to (if you're into that sort of thing) are the fall ones.

I think Canada has more Expo's then the States.

No way. Canada is ten years behind the States anything reptile-related. We also have less than 1/10th the population.
