View Full Version : Can someone help me identifythis spider?
I found this guy in my backyard, He is the size of a toonie. I live in Calgary, Alberta, He looks menacing (sp?) any help would be great.
Ughh.. That just gives me the creepy crawlies. I can't help you, but you might try What bug is this? An insect identification service from the Amateur Entomologists' Society (http://www.amentsoc.org/insects/what-bug-is-this/non-members-id-service.html). :)

YEA! I looked up garden spider on google and got some really good pics! They are actually from the UK but have been found in the US and here.
Yeah, I think you're right. I don't know why, but as much as I am disgusted by them, I am just as fascinated. They're so ugly though!! :/

They are neat creatures- and that is a really good photo! I like the spines on the spider and that color is pretty actually, even if it is a rather nasty-looking spider. I have a rose-hair tarantula, so I can admit spiders are cute..lol, just not sure "cute" is what I'd label that particular one..lol. I think ominous is more fitting for it!
no new news, still waiting to hear back from some people. But here is another photo taken the same day.

They really are amazing pictures, and that spider just looks so cool with all the little spiky things and what not
