hey everyone,
i just got a trio of bearded dragons and all i have to put them in is a 50 gallon aquarium. i know this is too small and was wondering if i could put them in somthing like a tortoise table.just ply wood all around. i wasnt sure about how tall it would have to be and stuff
thanks for the help
One of our male dragons is in a huge plywood enclosure (there's room for two dragons easy but it's not breeding season yet ;) ). ONE dragon should have about 50g, this doesn't mean they each need 50g worth of space, but this should give you an idea. It's more important to have a long enclosure than a high one but dragons do like to climb a bit. For 3 dragons I'd say at LEAST 100g of mostly floor...and remember, you have to be able to separate the male. He shouldn't be in there all year.
As long as the enclosure holds heat well enough than it's fine. Dragons need basking temps of about 100 F, they can go a bit higher even. Cooler temps of round 85.
Careful - you don't want your dragons breeding too much, you must to be able to seperate the male. Dragons lay clutches of about 30 eggs, and they can lay more than one clutch in a season, sometimes 3 or 4, usually about every 3 weeks, and they can retain sperm and get pregnant again several times from being bred once! With two females you could easily be looking at 120 eggs EACH!!! That's 240 baby dragons, all of which eat a ridiculous amount! Eggbinding is also an issue which can lead to death if females are allowed to continuously breed.
You must make sure your dragons are at least 18 months and healthy before being bred.
You must also ensure you have a good lay box or lay area to reduce the risk of eggbinding because of the female looking for an appropriate lay spot.
Be prepared! Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know!
Hope that helps!

i think one of the females may be gravid already. id like to start up my incubator. what temp and humidity?
Have you ever had dragons before?
Are you buying an incubator, or building your own?
A very important thing for your gravid dragon is CALCIUM! Make sure to feed her a lot and give her lots of calcium so she doesn't crash when she lays. You'll need to make sure she has an adequate lay box.
I think these links will explain better than me...
this is hands down the best dragon care library I've seen or read. The first links are egg laying and incubation etc the third is the general care library:

i have 2 hova bator incubators because i hope to breed my corns this year too. and yes these are my first dragons. i bought a book online but it hasnt come yet.
thanks once again for all the help
Do you know about their care? It's definatley recommended to know the animals you have BEFORE they become gravid and you have to care for 30, 60, 90 babies or more. You should separate the male now.
Do you have UV lighting and are you using supplementation for feeders? Mama dragon is going to need a very healthy diet to ensure she doesn't have a calcium crash when she lays.
