I have a female who is about a year old. She loves being held and eats a healthy diet and has a well ventilated cage. Until recently she has been amazing and loving, begs to get out of her cage and climb around on me and her surrounds. I always supervise her as well as spot her incase i think she might fall... and i have never seen her fall. I woke up probably 2 days ago and i noticed she has been sitting on her basking branch holding her 1 leg out and has been really angry.

Tonight when she was tired she let me touch her leg... it kinda dangles and she doesnt grip with it. I wanted to see if she could walk on it and she can, but you can tell it hurts her. It is not swollen at all, but she is favoring/babying it alot. She climbs around her cage well but has not been eating as much (which she tends to do when she gets in her moods every now and then).

Any idea what is wrong with her? Should i be worried, and should i take her to a vet, or is it something that will heal over time as she babys it?

what kind of chameleon is she? what does her "healthy diet" consist of? what are the temperatures inside what type of enclosure you use?

there are so many more questions i can ask but we pretty much cannot give you any advice until you give us some relevant information to your situation.

She is a veiled. Temps are about 95ish under heat lamp for basking and about 72 in her cool corner. Its a well ventilated cage. Wire mesh that has a rubber coding on it. Made it here at home with stuff from homedepot.

a healthy diet is fruits and veggies (she loves carrots, lettuce, apples, ect.) crickets (dusted 2 times a week), occasionaly meal worms and some other kind... cant think of the name. She isnt a big fan of the worms though.

Hey.
Ok, to start, the diet. Veileds can and do eat fruits and veggies but really they shouldn't be the main thing you feed them. It's important to give your chameleon a variety of insects; crickets, roaches, hornworms, silkworms, butterworms, phoenix worms..superworms and mealworms have little nutriton and can cause impaction (not the problem in this situation but still dangerous). When you do feed fruits and veggies, don't bother with carrots or lettuce unless you are trying to get more water into your cham. These veggies are mostly water and don't really have anything in them for your cham. My veiled goes crazy for fruits and berries but I only feed them to him once every other week or so, sometimes a bit more often.
What are you duting with? Calcium with or without D3? What brand? Vitamins? How often?
What do you use for UV light?
How is the grip with her other feet? Chams should not just 'fall'. Usually it is a case or over or under supplementation or something simliar, but as Julian said, we need more info.
Thanks.

is the wire mesh big enough for her leg to slip all the way through the mesh? is it possible that it climbed the cage in the night and got a leg caught and thats why its having trouble??
