reptile carpet?!

ok so i have reptile carpet in my leopard geckos cage, i love it! it looks nice and i can easily see the fecis and i dont worry about it eating the substrate... but is it good snakes?

i would love to put this in my BP cage bc when i feed him he always gets damn peices of substrate in his mouth, then i gotta pick it out... so would carpet be okay? or should i just suck it up and keep what i got?

I think this was discussed somewhere else but i can't find it. Um i think that everybody decided it was too rough for snakes but i'm not 100% sure.

meh untill my brother had to move he had his glossy snake on carpet about 3 years... No problems, but i dont care for it.....

So far I love having reptile carpet in my boa's enclosure (for mostly the same reasons you stated), so unless someone pops on with a real compelling reason to not use it, I'd say we should BOTH stick with reptile carpet. :)

It's great stuff for snakes. It isn't too rough for them, but it does provide friction for them to rub shed off onto. I have it in all my carpet pythons' cages and in my BP cages and I love the stuff. It is easy to clean, neat, and attractive. Only thing is you have to clean it often because it gets smelly when they pee on it.

I think when I used it my main problem was the cleaning of it. Its much easier to spot clean and then just change Aspen/Cypress...

I find the carpet easy to deal with. You make a 10% bleach solution with warm water and just soak the carpet in it for an hour or so. Then make sure all the poop crumbles are scraped off it and rinse it thoroughly with plain running water. Wring it dry, and hang it to dry the rest of the way and put it back in. I always have spare carpets for when I'm cleaning. It's always best to have 2 sets so you can just interchange them. While one set's being cleaned, use the other one.

I dump old aspen out spray (I use some salution I bought 3 gallons of at the last NARBC I managed to get to) tub once wipe off with paper towel two hand fulls of aspen back in, and done ;) Change all of the snakes tubs in less time than it takes to soak carpet. Just messing around dont get mad but its true.......

i see i see.... the carpet would be nice bc the last 2 time i had to pick chips out of his mouth, witch either him or i enjoyed. i would prolly like 4 peices and rotate them... this is a dumb questions, but i have a 20 gal tank, with a log in middle, hide on the right, and a dogs water bowl on the left... would he be able to get to the water? and still crawl on stuff? hes about 2 ft so i dont see why we wouldnt be able to get on stuff still, but its better to ask and make a fool of yourself, then not ask and hurt the animal i supose:)
