So i cant seem to stop buying snakes. I was thinking maybe a rack system would work better then the tanks i have now. do you guys think i should have a rack or do you think it would be better to stack tanks? i have 3 bci's and 2 bp's. i know im gonna end up getting more but i want to make sure i have room for them before i even think about what im gonna get next.

Don't stack tanks if they're glass, unless you have a very sturdy shelving system. Boaphiles makes some great stackable melamine cages, as do a few other places. I have 31 snakes, and my larger ones are in tanks that are on 3-tiered garage heavy-duty shelving systems. I think they are rated at 1000lbs per shelf and I have nowhere near that on them. I also have a home-made wooden and Sterilite box rack that holds the smaller snakes. I find the colubrids and young pythons seem to prefer the rack. It gives them more floor space but takes up less overall space and due to the opacity of the sides of the boxes and the wooden divider between each level, they cannot see the other snakes in the rack, so they have more privacy. Tanks on shelves or stackable cages are more pleasing to the eye, racks are more space-efficient. Really up to you and the specific requirements of each snake species.

i know im going to have mostly boa's i do like the boaphiles the most and i was looking at there racks just because im in an apartment right now and thought it would take up less space, but i want to make sure im getting something that will be best for the snakes as well. as long as the boa's can stay happy in a large rack for a while then ill probably do that.
