my ball python has not eaten since last thanksgiving. i have been told it is normal for them not to eat for long periods of time, but i am starting to get scared. she ate steady up until thanksgiving. i have done multiple things to try and get her to eat that were recommended by the pet store. i took her to the vet yesterday, and they said she may still have some skin on her eyes from her last shed. she does not regularly soak herself so the vet told me to make her soak. the vet says she looks healthy and suprisingly is not underweight. i would really like a second opinion. or several.

Snakes can go months and months without eating. If the vet check was clean, I wouldn't be too concerned. What are you temperatures like? If the snake is too hot or cool, it likely won't eat.
i have a ball python that fasted for over a year without loosing any weight. after the one year mark she still looked like one of the healthiest snakes i had.

Snakes have one of the most efficient digestive systems of all animals, so they can go a long time without eating. Search for the thread "BP won't eat" and you'll see lots of tips/tricks for trying to get a snake to eat--and information about snakes that haven't eaten in longer than yours.
Hang in there!
