k my snake had mites well still do but thanks to the forum im treating the problem with nix its working very well to,but im kind of scared that since i was feeding her while the mites was in the cage, she could have swallowed one and this could later become a problem internally.i live in the city and have no reptile vet available,i waz wondering if any pet stores sold oral antibiotics just in case,or if any one have any solutions.if i feel that the problem is getting out of hand il drive as far as possible to see a vet cause i love my snakes.help,advice,anything. ps.she seems alright im just taking precautions.

Nothing to worry about if it ate a mite as he mite would just die right away.
Mites are external parasites NOT internal ones they cannot survive inside a body, Mark

You can't usually get them without a prescription from a vet/doctor, Mark

I don't think you'd need antibiotics for mites, even if the infestation was severe. Antibiotics treat bacterial infections, and the only way a snake would get one of those from mites would be it so many mites bit it it got open sores that got infected, which is highly unlikely. I just used the Nix treatment myself about a month ago with great results- just stick with it, you'll be fine. Also it might be a good idea to get a carton of the room spray that Nix and Rid make. Just spray down the floor of the room where your snakes are so any mites that are elsewhere in the room won't survive and get back into your snakes' cages.

good idea i didnt spray the floor yet but im about to.but the mites seem to have disappeared ima stick to the nix treatment for a while longer just in case.but for the record bacterial infections would most likely happen if there was an open wound on the body,or is there any other way this could happen.

Secondary infections usually result after a wound that is present gets infected yep.
In the case of mites if they were sucking on an infected diseased animal then another animal there is stuff that can get infected that way as well, Mark
