i was told grey rat Dom but I'm not sure and i don't think they were either. i got him from the local pet shop as my first. he was 30 bucks because he wouldn't feed and wasn't a baby all the babies were $70 +. everyone wants babies they said. not me. i took him home. got his enclosure all nice and he took two large mice for me the next day and has never refused a feed since.very personable. i am looking for a knowledgeable person around here in upstate new york to tell me exactly what he is and i hope to get him sexed. im going to a show january 12 ( my first! woohoo) but i dare not take him in the cold, hopefully a few good pics and some good description to a breeder will allow me to have some more info on him. we shall see.
yeah it was hell getting him to even stay still for a pic and then he just stopped and reared up like that for like 3 minutes! i was amazed and took some pics. he has never struck anybody. not even a hiss. except for day one when he was adjusting. hisses went up when you set foot in the room.

Looks like a gray to me. Like all rat snakes, the grays are quite variable. Yours is nice and light. There's a "white oak" phase that is very light also. Here's a yearling male I had that's typical of w.c. for comparison.
