hey guys, today was the 1st feeding of Elanore... she took it really well and didnt have any troubles eating. my question is... if i keep my feeding tank underneather her living tank, is that going to make her constantaly keep smelling the mouse? will it make her think theres always a mouse around.. OR should i keep the feeding tank away from her living tank? thanks guys!

I would just feed in the enclosure she is in. I used to use a seperate enclosure but it seemed to stress my snake out too much.

As already stated feeding the snake inside the permanent enclosure is usually the best thing to do. Then there's no reason for snake to bite you while you may try to put it back from the feeding enclosure. If you're afraid the snake will always think your hand is food then hook train your snake.

Also, if you wish to continue with your current method I do recall a breeder (who visits this site) said that they actually keep their rat colonies on the other side of their snake room and it doesn't seem to affect things.

My snake always goes after the food i present without fail as quick as possible and i can put my hand in her cage and she doesn't even seem to entertain the thought that it might be food. I also don't put my hand right in front of her face either when i go to pick her up. i pick her up from the back and to the side. And also my snake as well as most others i've seen feed don't just strike as soon as they see food they seem to size it up and make a good strike. so if you pick it up with confidence you should be fine. don't mistake me saying confidence with being fast because that could cause your snake to go into saftey mode and be defensive.

just like any animal they can sense if you are afraid or worried and they will in turn be worried and on guard.
