Ok Someone telled me don't feed them any goldfish. I'm not sure what to think of that. I know you can feed them mice and rodents.
But what is the top 5 thing would you say be the best to keep them in good health?

I wouldn't own a caiman myself, but I would do research on their natural environment and then try to get as close to a natural diet as possible. I would think fish would be ok considering they spend a lot of time in water then as it grows you would probably be ok to feed it rodents and such. But think of how caimen live in the wild...Is there a whole lot of food they won't pass up?

Feeder fish (especially goldfish) carry diseases, or something along those lines. I don't own anything that takes feeder fish so I don't know the specifics.

edit - I would think if you bred your own feeder fish they would be fine though.

Goldfish are a type of carp, and carp are not known for their nutritional values. That may be the main issue with them as feeders, though I don't know for sure.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Goldfish could carry a heavy amount of hook worms which are potintially dangerous to all preadators that feed on them.
