they dont even name the species of this supposed 18 foot animal and then they show a picture of a harmless ball python that doesnt even grow past 4 feet.

That lady sounds like a moron!!!! If you stabbed a snake 12 times and you had any common sense there would be no way it would have to be put to sleep later. even if it was a supposed 18 foot animal there is no way if she really stabbed it 12 times it wouldn't have died. she deserves to have jail time just for being a moron and not being able to kill a snake with 12 tries.

Well if it bit and coiled it may well have been hard to get to its head, and snakes all animals for that matter can take alot of damage and seemingly not care. I would blame the news people on the shoddy reporting but assuming its all true. Why was there a situation allowed in that home where that could happen?

I'm not sure where I stand on this....I think the media over reacted but I think the parents are stupid.
Here's a link to a video, a bit more informative:

From the video I saw of this. It was a tiger retic. I don't think it was 18 feet long. Could be but didn't seem to be. The video I saw wasn't all about how "snakes are evil and should all die" it mentioned how snakes don't normally do this.

yep the snake was doing what a snake will sometimes do. I think the parents shouldnt have let it happen. But many use these examples to work on making it harder for responsable persons to own large reptiles, or any reptiles.

Grandma also says, oh he didn't even need stitches, it's not that bad. OMG is she nuts? Besides the fact that it likely would have eaten the child had the mother not noticed, naw...no problems in that home at all.

for what she calls a freak accident, that could have happened with any family pet

Huh? Did I hear that right?

Where was the snake's enclosure? Had they no locks? Why weren't they just going over to the friend's house to check on the snake & give it water instead of keeping it at their house?

OK, I'll stop ranting now.

I feel sorry for the poor snake. and the child.

But not the parents.

Chu that is my exact feeling, what the hell were they thinking to let the child and snake who are both innocent get to where that could happen they diserve to be charged.

I didn't watch yours. I just went off the comments made here.

That is ridiculus. things like that should not ever happen. People who cannot contain an animal should not have an animal in the house.

Something i found interesting is the fact that she called it a "freak accident that could have happened with any family pet" if it had been a larger dog say a doberman or pit bull they would probably be facing some of the same charges
