Hi there,
I got this fella a few years back. I was walking through the petstore to get to the dog food and I noticed him. He was awfully skinny and little kids were handling him (with the supervision of a store staff member) and they were getting kind of rough with him, probably not realizing it. I asked what he was and where he came from (he wasn't a baby in the store). Turns out somebody couldn't take care of him and that store will take in select pets and sell them. I did some research and decided if he was still there in two weeks I would ask my parents if I could get him. I went back and ended up bringing him home. When I got him home I noticed that one of the ends of his toe/nail was missing. It didn't seem to be bothering him at all so I just decided to keep an eye on it. To this day it still hasn't grown back, but he doesn't seem to mind. He has been such a learning experience. He was my first reptile (except for when I was a little kid) and I am still constantly researching questions I have. I have become an addict to this website for valid informations and different opinions. I will attach some pictures of him, feel free to give comments and advice.
Kenny :)

Thank you!
I'm not sure if he is really a he and I'm not sure how old he is but oh well, at least he's healthy and well looked after now.
Kenny
I know nothing about them but the pictures are nice.
I love beardies, I have two of em.:D A German Giant male and an orange/purple juvi. I'll post some pictures later.
Spike looks nice and healthy, especially in the picture where he's hanging out in the tank. I like his dark beard.
wow pretty. i think lizards are so awesome but snakes don't run as fast. or climb up walls and chill on the ceiling.
or climb up walls and chill on the ceiling.
LOL! Those are geckos :)
i know that is why i put lizards in my post instead of bearded dragons lol. i don't really know enough about them to really make a point on one or the other. so i just group them together.

AHAAH I almost got some Geckos but then I decided I have enough of a zoo to look after right now, so I didn't. I might later though, I think they are so cute!
I'm not sure exactly what kind Spike is so if anybody has suggestions I would appreciate it because I would like to know.

not a good size representation, he's the german giant
ps. your beardie looks like a snow morph to me.
wow again beautiful animals. i think i might look into getting one or two of those they are cool looking. so can you house them together?
Yep. A couple females and a male is fine, sometimes males can live together to but I really wouldn't recommend that. They are super easy to care for and have great "personalities"! They're hilarious.
edit: I don't house these two together but you can house bearded dragons together.

AWWW their SO cute!!
Mkay thank you. Are there a lot of different morphs or are there just a few?
Kenny
do they run away from you or are they relitively calm because i don't want one running all over the darn house.
Kendra: Thanks! I love 'em. There are a few different colour morps, they have nothing on ball pyhtons or leo geckos though, haha. Mostly reds, oranges, yellows, whites etc.
Kyle: Hahaha, they're pretty calm and very tolerating of handling. I have had to chase both these guys aorund before but for the most part they're pretty good. :D
Thats good i couldn't see myself running around chasing one of them all over my room. i'd just let it go and eventually hope it came back as bad as that sounds. i have enough trouble chasing around my 2 yr old son.

AHAH! I remember this one time I was cleaning out Spike's habitat and I put him in the bathtub in the other room. When I went to get him a few minutes later he wasn't there. I caught a glimpse of him scurrying quickly across the living room floor towards the kitchen! It took me just over an hour to catch him. He ran too quickly for me to catch him before he went under the dining room cabinet and then he wouldn't come out so I had to wait there and watch for him to crawl out from under it. Man! Can they run fast!!!
I especially like the white ones, then orange and then the red-ish ones! I really think the little tiny baby ones are adorable though! They're so cute. When I got Spike he was pretty much full grown, I remember the first time I saw a baby beardie! Awww.
Kenny
P.S. I found this picture online and I think it's super-adorable!
well after that post there is no way you are a guy with using those words....adorable...and cute and so on.
not to be too gross but that is the closest thing i've ever seen to a lizard orgy.

AHAHa that is hillarious! In fact, that comment made my day!! I am still laughing!
Haha! Yupp 100% female!! I usually don't use a lot of words like that but reptiles are just so adorable! lol. Some people are cat people or dog people, I'm a reptile person. I want to add to my collection but with all my other pets and busy school schedule I just don't have the time to take proper care of any more creatures. *sigh* hopefully I will soon. I'm just not sure what kind of reptile I would like to add to my collection. Does anybody have any suggestions?

To tell the sex of a beardie, lift its tail to a 90 degree angle, look on the 'tail-side' of the dragons vent.
A boy will have 2 bulges one on either side.
A female will have a single bump in the center
Look directly bellow the vent on the base of the tail.
I have had many dragons, balls are my new love.
Sure you CAN keep dragons in the same cage, however you can also keep balls in the same cage, just not a good idea.
Dominance issues
Stress issues
fighting
eating problems
....
there is the occasion when 2 dragons will and can live perfectly fine, the exeption to the rule. More often then nmot, there will be issues.

Ok, thanks for the advice! I'll let you guys know!
I only have one beardie, I might like another in the future, they're pretty cool.
I'm a BP addict too, I love the structure and shape of their heads.
I know some people who had two beardies together and they lived happily for their entire lives. I suppose that's a chance you take depending on their "personalities" and instinctive behaviour.
Kenny
kendra u have to get a brazilian rainbow boa they are the most beautiful snakes. they have an amazing head structure. but then again i think all boas for the most part have amazing heads.
I wouldn't exactly compare housing beardies together to housing BPs together..
Snakes and lizards aren't the same.
Those issues can arise but sometimes they don't. The key to that is making sure there is enough room, basking areas, etc. Plenty of people keep beardies together and they do fine. EDIT: GoodSmeagol, I guess you did say that it can happen though, sorry.
Mine didn't. I also had another young beardie (snow, male) which I had kept with my younger female, the female stopped eating and lost weight, I had to seperate them and now she is doing great. I gave the snow to my sister for Xmas.

Aww that's so nice of you! Did she like her Xmas gift?
If I gave my sister a beardie for any occasion she'd say "uh, great thanks...who wants to trade?"
She's more into fluffy little yappy critters. I don't have anything against them, I just prefer reptiles.
I was actually looking into a BRB and then I came across Wolfus (my bp) and I just fell in love with him. I think that the next snake I get will be a brb. I need to get another nicely built enclosure first and convince my family that there is indeed room for another one of my reptile living spaces in our house. We have several other pets so space to put things is getting kinda tight. I have a dog, 2 cats, a bird, a beardie, a bp and some fish. I'm trying to downsize on fish. They just aren't as amusing as there were when I was a little kid.
The people I know who housed their beardies together had some sort of disease occur with one of the beardies and it unfortunately didn't survive. They had had them together for years and then they all of a sudden just had one and they had to clean and sterilize everything. As far as I know the beardie they still have is doing just fine.
Oh and by the way, I checked and Spike is a very handsome male.

So just out of curiousity I did some research on Nile monitors...
OMG! They can tear open the drywall and go through walls!! I had this thought.
This is all hypothetical because they now terrify me, unless they're at the zoo. IF I was to get a Nile monitor It would need to be kept upstairs. I could turn the front room into a monitor room. Then I read that they can dig/tear apart drywall. that made me think: "wow! They can probably also go through floors" then I imagined me and some friends/family sitting at the dining room table when a huge Nile monitor falls through the hole it's been digging in the floor(of upstairs)/ceiling(of dining room) all day and lands on the dining room table. one word: Chaos!
