Hi, Katrina! It's nice to have another woman on here; the testosterone levels can get pretty high! ;)
It's sad that you lost Zen, but I'm glad you know what happened. BPs are really cool snakes, though--are you thinking of getting another one? I have had a lot of different snakes, but I have a BP now. I really like him.
Hi Katrina, welcome! As Chu said, nice to see some more girls on here! Too bad about your BP, I'm sure you'll find another great snake though, lots of ideas on here.
I do a lot of art myself, what are you into?
Hi and welcome to the site.

idk what type of snake i want but im looking for a 3 to 5 foot snake (when full grown), because my mom is scared that i might get attacked or something if i get a bemuse python and it will eat me lol. she doesn't like reptiles.
im onto painting oils and watercolor. im into manga and im really good to, im gonna write one or draw one lol. i actually try a little bit of everything.
is there realy that little amount of girls on here? im shocked. O.O

Welcome to the site! Another Ball Python is probably the best choice. Just look around and avoid the large chain petstores. Try to find a reputable breeder and don't be afraid to pay a little extra if you have to.
That would be my suggestion as well, ball pythons are a great snake.

Yes, BPs are your best bet for that size range. And you can point out to your mom how "docile" they are, since they're such laid-back snakes!
Also, think of the fantastic color & pattern range! Depending upon how much money you have/how long you save up, you can get a really cool snake. You should see Mykee's piebalds--they are gorgeous!
I'll go find the name of the thread they're in & post it.

The thread is "Piebald?" and Mykee's photo is on page 2.
I love looking at those snakes!
Of course, there are many other beautiful BP morphs, too.

ok, thank you!
Ive heard corn snakes are kinda snippy and aggressive is that true or dose it depend on the snake?
i don't know anything about king snakes other than they look like corral snakes, could you give me a little information about them?

I think you're thinking of milk snakes; they're the same genus as kingsnakes (Lampropeltis) but different species with very different coloring (usually--depends on the morph) and sometimes different patterns (but this also depends on the morph). The normal milk snake is yellow/black/red, while a coral snake has black/yellow/red stripes (order of colors goes with saying, "Black on yellow, kill a fellow," which is intended to help people remember how to tell the venomous snake from the nonvenomous snake, whereas for the milk snake, the saying is" Red on black, OK Jack" meaning it isn't venomous).
Milk snakes (and king snakes) can make very nice pet snakes, but they aren't as easy to handle as BPs. Not generally snippy, though some can be (same with corns) but just fast-moving, so they aren't so easy to handle as they won't be still much. I had a Pueblan Milk Snake for 2+ years (snake-sitting for a friend) and I really enjoyed it.

Yes; that's a good part of the reason why I've enjoyed our BP so much! I do miss the snake being out in the daytime, though; BPs being nocturnal means we have to wait until the sun goes down or sort of close to that time to see him usually. But then, the milk snake spent a lot of time burrowed under the substrate, so I guess it's really 6 of one half dozen of the other kind of thing. At any rate, I'm really happy that my DH wanted a BP and we got one.

well, im home schooled so i end up staying up till 3:00 in the morning, so that wasn't a problem for me when i had my BP.

Oh, you're home-schooled? Cool! At least, I think so. I home-schooled my sons for awhile. I still have friends who home school.
So what kind of rock 'n' roll do you like?
and I have to add, that even though I really like our BP's handleability, I would still like another milk snake or king snake. They're pretty snakes.
katrina i used to own a ball python and it also died but i then got a Brazilian rainbow boa and it has been a blast i really love it. they are really beautiful snakes.

Problem is size: Adult size can range from just over 4 feet to monstrous specimens measuring nearly 7 feet. Average adult size is between 5 and 6 feet with larger and smaller individuals being the exception. from Brazilian Rainbow Boa (http://lllreptile.com/info/library/animal-care-sheets/snakes/-/brazilian-rainbow-boa/)
Katrina needs a snake with a max length of 5 ft. I don't know if she can persuade mom to let her go bigger . . .
They are truly gorgeous snakes, though!
ya they are and yes they do range from 5-7 feet normally. there are rare cases of 4 footers but those usually aren't kept in the right sized tanks. but they stay relitively slender and at 7 feet barely get over 10-12 pounds.

The adult size of any reptile is not hindered by the size of it's enclosure.

Brazilian rainbow boa? Ive never seen one before, do they get over 5ft? they sound pretty.
i like good old fashioned rock the kind that you never hear anymore. and i also like jet, nirvana, led zeppelin, ac/dc, but i do like modern rock just not as much. ill listen to any music really i like all types of music (rap, country, pop, techno, rock, classical, and i realy like Japanese music too) just depending on the song if i like it, i like it if that makes sense.
oh before i forget, i put up some of my artwork on my page if you care to look at it. please comment, i would love to hear your opinions.
