i was talk to some1 2day about my snakes and they said they would grow plants in the cage with them i said dont be stupid it would kill them .now i wonder would it by the way i wouldnt do it anyway
many people setup up natural vivarians it just takes research to make sure that the plants are proven safe for the animal to be in prolonged contact with. I prefer fake plants as they dont attract bugs and such
( they do originally come from the wild):)

I have a natural vivarium. I did have a little trouble with some tiny beetles that apparently came in with one of the plants. I did a CO2 treatment (dry ice, after removing the BP) and no longer have a problem. My BP is very happy in his enclosure and is in excellent condition.

Dry ice is frozen CO2 (solid carbon dioxide). As it warms to room temp, it sublimes (converts to a gaseous form), and replaces all the oxygen, asphixiating all animal life that requires oxygen to breathe. It won't kill the plants because plants actually take in CO2 and produce oxygen (the opposite of most animals). This is oversimplified, of course, but basically correct.
In order to use frozen/solid CO2, one must be very careful--don't touch it/handle it without skin protection, as it is MUCH colder (about -70C) than "normal" (H2O/water at about 0C) ice and will cause a severe freeze burn. Also, all animals one wants to keep alive should be removed from the enclosure before treatment.
It is very effective in killing unwanted critters while not harming the plants. After treatment, I had no beetles at all. After removing all the cups I had used to hold the dry ice and ensuring via really good air circulation (a fan) that the enclosure was fully reoxygenated, I put my BP back in and have had no problems with any unwanted critters since.

It's actually how a lot of people mass kill any rodents to later freeze and feed to their animals. That is if they breed their own.
Haha, I could see cannabis thriving with the heat light, especially if you had a Uv light too. I wouldn't recommend 'mixing your intrests' though..haha..

I personally don't have cannabis in my vive; too many people come into my house & see it! I don't need problems with the law. I do have ZZ plant & pothos & a sanseverium. They hold up pretty well under a BP crawling over them or resting on them, and I don't think cannabis would! ;-)

if you have ever grown bud before you should know that i requires much more humidity and light then most reptiles can handle. plus all the grow projects that i ihave seen have all been very difficult to deal with and require a constant water source, which sounds good in theory but most times you have to add chemicals to balance out the ph. this can be harmful to the animals. it would be in your best interest to keep that certain grow project out of your terrarium, weed is not like other plants. they require alot more elements that could hurt the animals in the long run
