There is a large price difference. If you wish you can ship one from the states. I don't know what the conversion rate would be in your currency but you can look up any "big breeder" from the states and a few from Canada. Also try looking for some in the UK. There should be at least one.
The difference in price (here in Canada) is roughly 12:1. For every dollar you spend on a normal male, expect to spend $12 for a lesser male.

I'm not sure where you're looking, but this season, I sold lessers for $750-$900 and that was VERY competitively priced.

Hmm I can't wait to purchase a lesser female soon! Mykee will you be having het pieds as well this year?
Aaron, nope. My pied male is being ornery so I replaced him with my super blast male earlier this season.

Yah jerk! Although super blast x anything can be quite awesome. You going to give me a bit of an inside scoop of something he's bred this year?
Nope. I learned last season not to count my eggs before they hatch.

Not WHAT will be produced but what one or two of his partners are. I can think of the potential on my own.
Maybe some pastels or super pastels. A lesser, a mojave, a pastave, some bees...you just never know.

I'm so jealous I couldn't start my collection just a few years earlier...
You mean you don't agree with all the "breeders" who are packing up shop and heading fo the hills because of the drop in prices? Haven't you heard?!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!! Better get out now and make back your 15 cents on the dollar...

OK, Mykee, if the sky is falling, what's your sale price on one of those piebalds? ;)

Even if the sky WAS falling I know Mykee wouldn't be selling any of them ;)
Meh they can pack it up... I'll reap the benefits in a couple years. The recession is keeping me from trying to produce many, or any at all, in the next year. I can just raise my current girls up in the mean time.

Haha, took the words out of my mouth Chu! :)

Darn! Here I was thinking this is my big chance (esp. since I don't believe the sky is falling, just sagging a bit for awhile).
The recession is keeping me from trying to produce many, or any at all, in the next year.
why not just breed like crazy and stockpile. then when the time comes you will have snakes of all types and sizes to sell. that way you don't have to choose between selling or proving out a gene.
As for the market "sagging", I doubt it will even see an increase again. A stabilization is more likely than anything.
As for producing and "stockpiling", if you've got the room to house, money to feed, and time to clean and water, go ahead. Sounds a lot like "breeding" to me...
yes mykee breeding is what i meant. and the way i figure it food isn't a problem if you breed your own rats and mice. and food for them is cheep. you will still be able to sell some snakes even in a down market so that will more than pay for the rodent food. and the watering and feeding of the snakes is more fun for me than anything. it's relaxing. i will just sit and watch my snake move around at night for like and hour cuz it is just relaxing. the housing part isn't as simple, but if you can build your own racks then it shouldn't be too bad.
Breeding your own rats when you have a decent-sized collection is the ONLY way to do it. Assuming you don't feed dog food....
The day I don't look forward to cleaning my rat racks or trying to dislodge dried urates from my snakes bins is the day I sell off my collection and find a new hobby.

I hate cleaning crap up! I like my snakes though so the trade-off is worth it to me :) Besides it's gives me a little one on one time with them.
