i try to keep the ambient temperature around 80 degrees or so with a surface basking spot of 88-90. i find that they have a greater feeding response at this temp range rather than keeping them a little cooler. the humidity is not too much of a concern to me because i have noticed that they have perfect sheds even at a very low humidity level but i would say that 50-60% would be fine if youre looking for a guide. also give em a hide on the warm and cool end of the enclosure and a nice substrate such as aspen mulch so they can burrow under it.

what type of enclosure are you using now and what are you using to heat it?

its a wooden enclouser with a piece of glass in the bottom . i heat it with a heat mat under the piece of glass and a red light in there to

as long as the heat mat is controlled by a thermostat and the heat bulb inside the enclosure is inaccessible to the snake then your good.

if your ambient temperature is a little low then you can bump it up by going with a higher wattage bulb. again though, just make sure that the bulb is protected so that your snake cannot get to it.

I would put a thermometer on the ground directly below the light. If that gets to 85, try a 75 watt bulb.

Home Depot as well as the herp shop I frequent sell these wire mesh covers. It should be a couple of inches at least.

If it's that low, you may just need a 100w light bulb. If you use a light intended for basking, it will be more efficient than say, a normal incandescent bulb.
