I like the pics of the one of what looks to be trying to eat some sort of roll. Rather interesting.

I once saw some baby water pythons housed together and they were so aggressive, even the slightest motion outside their enclosure would get them all upset and have them striking. One time, one struck and hit a cagemate. It continued to eat it's cagemate, which was the same size as it!

Yeah it makes it hard to clean when someones eating the shop towels :o LOL As for the other comment well thats why we always suggest individual housing for all specimens right ;) THX Mark

Yes. It's a vivid memory for me. It was in a pet store. I do recall the snake regurging his cagemate, and most likely it's clutch mate. I also seem to recall someone trying a little CPR on the poor swallowed snake.

But yes, I concur, that's why we always say to keep ALL specimens seperate. Anything can happen.

When I first had Corns I ha 5 babies in a tank until the one grabbed another by the head & started eating it. They all got individual tubs right after I prevented the "meal" from taking place, but hey its OK to keep Corns together right? LOL Mark

It's ok to keep everything together man! We should keep our balls with our carpet pythons. You know because carpets are in the 'trees' and the balls stay on the ground!

Same with keeping green tree pythons with cornsnakes. Corns don't climb and are only out during the day so when the green tree is active at night, they won't disturb one another!

Does to me; will it to a newbie? We can always pray . . .

It should seeing that I was saying in a post above it how snakes shouldn't be kept together.

One would hope that those would get connected . . .

I'll stop teasing you (and unknown newbies) now! Those pics alone should do the trick, I would think.

Now I'm beginning to wonder how the darn things ever mate!

Actually its usually pretty straight forward. The males are usually only interested in one thing ;) Its the girls you have to worry about LOL 99 times out of 100 if something is going to happen it goes down in the first minute. It is most always the females that try to kill the males. If a female tries to grab the male at all she will almost always try to constrict instantly. The males on the other hand will grab the females but only to hold them still. Note the breeding pics where the males grab them in the head/neck area there is no constriction & when they let go no wounds usually. When one first throws them together it is best to plan on having to intravene & expect to get bit while doing so. If you go in prepared after that its all up to them. Best bet is within a day or 2 of the female having had a good sized meal. Mark

Ahhh . . . I'm reminded even more strongly of mantids and spiders--it's always the female that eats the male!

Aren't you guys glad that human women don't go to these extremes? :)

Are you kidding?

You go talk to my exwife. How many times in a divorce does the woman get hosed over half her income?

You didn't get eaten--not literally! And I'm a little confused--did you hose your X? Or did she hose you?

Hmm . . . never mind! Either way, I'm sorry I touched a sore spot, Erik.

Let's just say that in _general_, eating one's mate is not a human trait.

Personally, I like to house my balls with some mouse friends, they get along great ;)

Friends? I'm not sure the mice would agree! ;-)
