GIVE IT UP! it was something that i do and i only do it because i trust him up there. Iv had him since he was just 2 months old Iv handled him since then and i know that he isnt gonna move if i thoguht for a second there would be any problem with him there HE WOULDNT BE THERE! AND dont anyone say that i am a bad owner because my snakes are my life and i love them to death and i would never put them in danger if someone wants to look at them while they drive and they have a accident you should be watching the road not someone elses dashboard!. And cops arent a problem because i have a town wide permit and acknowledgement that i own exotic reptiles and no one here gives me a problem so i have my life with them pretty much made, if you still wanna fight go ahead cuzi dont give a **** anymore lol. See ya

I know its not a safe practice but i know he wont freak or anything. I love snakes and and i love mine and id never harm any of put mine in danger. I would do anything to save my snakes and i mean anything and i treat them like another person so dont anyone tell me im a bad owner because you dont even know me dont judge what you dont know, thats all i ask

how can you say you would not put him in harm or danger but you drive around with him all the time?
what if some drunk driver hit you and your car rolled over 5 times and was on fire, and he was either hurt or slithered away while you exploded?
lets hope that does not happen, but snakes are not meant to be taken out anywhere unless you are transporting them from where you bought them to where you are keeping them. they need proper heat and humidity levels, and should not be transported the way you do it. they should be in a foam or rubber bin, with shirts or reptile transport heat packs, and should only be taken for rides when you have to... such as right after purchase, trips to the vet, or if you happen to do large reptile shows and thats it.
you have been lucky so far that nothing happends, and i hope u continue to be so lucky.
You're not only a bad snake owner, you're irresponsible.

Some basic rules for you to ignore somemore, but for others that choose to lisen to thsoe that DO KNOW BETTER!
1) Controlled & Contained - neither of these are followed
2) Always trust a snake to be a snake - not followed either
These are basic straight forward "rules" of snake keeping. I wouldn't bother posting again, but if you want to keep posting about it responsible snake keepers will do so as well. I love my snakes too & am not saying you don't. I am saying you could do better for them, yourself & the rest of the snake keepers out there by following a couple basic safety rules. Mark

Heres a classic example I posted the other day why to always trust a snake to be a snake. In case some folks can't figure that out it means NOT to trust them. This is a snake my friend raised from a baby & it has NEVER done anything like this EVER before. A classic example of what can & will happen someday whether some folks can grasp the concept or not. For those that choose to learn from others knowledge & experinces here it is. For those too stubborn or proud or whatever their issue is ignore it & carry on with your bad practices, Mark
No LOL but I did have one of the big thick 8ft males I got with her try to eat me here a few weeks back. Coiled my hand/wrist & bit my arm pretty good. Glad Kyle was over when it happened as if it wasn't for him holding the head back with the hook I would have took multiple tags & bled a lot more. Took a few minutes & lots of opened mouthed strikes before we were able to get him off of my arm & back into an enclosure. He was all fine & then decided to squeeze the crap outta me & try to eat me. After the first bite he decided I was tasty because he became very persistent after that LOL Probably one of the closest times that I almost got tagged in the face. Not a lot of fun having an 8ft Python constricting your wrist striking out at all other flesh in the room. Like I said Kyle "saved" me from likely being tagged in the face/neck multiple times. But hey its cool to wear them around your neck as fashion accessories becasue crap like this never happens with big docile snakes right? It happens to the best of us kids so play safe! LOL Mark

I know its not a safe practice but i know he wont freak or anything.
You admit to it not being a safe practice but then claim he's "safe"?
We're not talking that you're a bad driver. We have actually mentioned more than once that it's the OTHER drivers to worry about. Just like any other day on the road. You're not really all that "safe" from other drivers in your car, are you?
He probably doesn't "freak" because he's stressed. Can you safely monitor the acid build up in his body throughout the duration of the trip? Maybe that's why he doesn't move off the dash. He's stuck between glass and the dash, and a snake LOVES to feel something around it's body at all times. He doesn't like the ride, or the motion. He likes the "safety" of two hard places and being between them. I know snakes. I know the instinct they possess. You consider him a person, but he doesn't love you or care for you.
Thank you for reposting the story. It's a true testament to murphy's law, of whatever can happen WILL happen. (I do believe it's murphy's law, it could be someone else's)

well you can call me crazy because i love them and i like to think they love me i know they dont and that its not a characteristic of them but to me they do just like children think toys can come to life and **** i think they love me you can go ahead and rip me up for it but its just what i like to think
How about we just ignore this moron as he clearly knows better than all of us.
I look forward to reading about your imminent car accident.

I will echo Mark here with a previous comment in another thread. "Future statistic".
all right i know i don't have a snake yet and most of you that i've talked to know that. But i became a member of this community to learn and convince my parents that i would be good at taking care of a snake i read all the post (at least when it says your un read post then i click on it then i read those) and one thing ive learn bye reading the post is that snakes arn't concerned with your common well fair(i think thats how you spell it) there alot like my cousin and do what they want when they want please correct me if im wrong guys .

First of all, this isn't meant to be rude but can you use punctuation in your posts? It's sometimes difficult to make sense of what you're saying because it's just one really long sentence.
Secondly, yes you are correct. A snake doesn't care about you. The only use you have for it is to give it their basic life needs. They don't care if you're sad, lonely or happy. They only care about themselves.

Chase, you've got it. You ever hear of the reptile brain? People will say it when they're talking about a human responding at the most basic level, such as fight or flight level, eat or be eaten level.
That's a snake. It exists at a very basic level. If it's frightened, it defends or attacks; it doesn't stop to ask what's going on--it strikes. If it's hungry, it strikes. If it wants to go somewhere else, it'll do that to the best of it's (often considerable) ability.
Learning is limited in snakes--you cannot expect a snake to be like a dog--to want to spend time cuddling or to learn tricks. They do what they do. The only things they really "want" or, better, _need_ from us are food and water when we're keeping them.
It's up to us to adjust to their natures and to treat them with the respect they deserve for what they are--and that means treat them as snakes, not as dashboard display objects. When we keep one, we take responsibility for its life and well-being--or at least we _should_.
i think im going to make a Q&A theard or how ever you spell it

I know the US has some realy crazy slack gun laws but lets not mix carots and apples here. Your town wide permit is only good for 3 things keeping exotic animals in a inspected facility, attending reptile shows as a vendor and hosting your own educational and promotional shows. In all cases the animal MUST be in a proper holding cage. I am normaly one to ignore ppl like your self but this is what I see happening you driving enjoying your self you get pulled over for a routine trafic stop, the cop is a prick searchs your car. why? because he can finds the animal. Calls animal control to seize a improperly secured large boa constrictor, control officer is a halfe wite gets bitten you get charged for assult on a officer of the law. human laws animal laws all the judge will care about is the fact that is officers were in harms way by your doing good luck with that my friend not fun.

if you really, truely loved your animal then you would only be doing good for it and at this moment that is not the case.
have an open mind, listen to some opinions here and go and do some research about your animal. then make a choice on what is really good for it.
good luck man...

Wow, what opened this up again nearly two months later? I don't get what our gun laws have to do with riding around with a loose snake, either. At any rate, you'd have to have grown up in our culture, especially our rural culture, to understand our gun laws, which make total sense in the proper context. Maybe we should focus on the snakes here instead of criticizing other people's cultures/societies and laws.

Is there a way to close it? It doesn't seem worth it to have it sit here for people to find at this point, at least IMHO.

Only mods can do it.
