Well I had what I thought was just a dead Diamond Jaguar (50% Diamond 50% Coastal) left in the egg in the incubator. Figured I better get on tossing it, but decided to have a look at it first. Boy was I ever surprised to find it had 2 HEADS There were also 2 sets of twin "siblings" that did make it in the clutch. The doubleheaders heads were at the bottom of the egg when I cut it/them out. Very wild as we were just discussing twins & doubleheaders earlier in the day on the Edmonton Reptile Forums. Crazy! Mark

No it never "lived" except insie the egg prior drowning there. I pipped the egg & it was dead inside. THX Mark

Congrats on that. It seems twins seems to be occuring more often. Do you think it's a genetic thing or possibly just the fact more people breed snakes in captivity and we're seeing the results?

I think there are some genetics going on myself. I have had a 2 headed snake before as well. A Lavender Albino CK. Same pairing produced twins a different year as well. Both the twins & the 2 header were girls. Same father with a different female also produced twin girls another time. Genetics involved? Very probable, Mark

SEEMS like a genetics thing to me... thats really awesome! So i'm wondering what it would be like if it lived? Which head would you feed? Would both heads be active or not? lol the thoughts are racing!! if this ever happens again, KEEP ME POSTED! lol

It seems it's almost prone for kingsnakes!
Melissa, it has happened before with other snakes being born with two heads. For the most part the animal does not live. I do believe there was a ratsnake that someone kept alive with two heads. He had to feed both heads.
