hello,
my ball python is not yet a year old and he is making some weird sounds. its not the squeaking sound that they make with a RI but its like her is trying to blow really hard out of his noise. i really dont think its a hiss becasue i have never heard a hiss like that before and he is not doing it agressivly. dose any one know what it might be?

Is there mucus build up around his nostrils? Is he using his mouth to breath? (Opening it) Are there bubbles being blown at all? It could still be a possible RI.

from what i understand RI means respitory infection! you need to take you snake to the vet and get it looked at, snakes can die from respitory infections!!

No he is not using his mouth to breath and i don't see any bubbles or mucus. he was rubbing his mouth up against the side of his tank though. the previous owner told me today that he dose it before he sheds because his nostrils begin to cover over... dose anyone think thats true? also, i was holding him for a while today and he didn't make that noise do symptoms of RI'S come and go like that?
