Hello everyone i'm looking for some advice on whats wrong with my chameleon. He is a male about 16 months old and he has some swollen sac like things in front of his eyes. I called all the local vets in the area but being from a small P.E.I town none seemed educated or confident enough for me to bring him in. He's ad the sacks for about 7 months now, he rubbed at them at first but they don't seem to bother him anymore, he is still and always has been very active much more then my female. The sacks do however limit his bug caughting ability because they have to be directly in front of him and his vision is obstructed by the sacks. So he eats out of a cup and eats like a pig i might add.. Anyway if anyone has some info on a possible treatment or even what the condition is and what caused it i would greatly appreaciate hearing it! Thanks

Are the sacs actually part of his eyes? like are they puffy bubbles within the telescopic eye parts? or are they outside? If they are inside the eye protrusions, he probably has an eye infection, which is actually fairly common with chameleons; they have a tendency to get little bits of dirt under their eyelids, and they cause big puffy bubbles (my cham had one one once) .... now there is a common veterinary cream, much like polysporin which works really well for this, it has a 3 letter initial, which for the life of me I can't remember right now. I will make a call to a buddy of mine that originally recommended it to me when my cham had an eye infection and try to get back to you tonight........... and if you could post pics that would be very helpful

First of all, please try to post a photo of your cham & then a close up of the face. This would help a lot.

puffiness in both eyes for 7 months is unlikely to be an infection as you would expect it to spread or worsen. It sounds like the area you are describing is not part of the eye telescope - is this true?
Is there any discharge/crusty bits/change of color to the scales around the puffy area?
Does the puffiness feel hard and you can move the skin over top of it? Or does it feel compressable?
Can you remember an event which might have caused trauma there initially?
Lastly - does he have exposure to any of the other reptiles you own?
