Hi, I have a ball python of approx 2 years of age. It was kept in a 20g tank for most of that and all was good. Ball would spend most of the day in the hide rock and come out in the evening. Since it was out growing the tank I got a 40g tank. I've had the tank now for 4 weeks and my ball hasn't went in the hide yet. it just goes in the corner of the tank or borrows under the substrate.

And yes it is warm enough in the tank. I got a heat pad under the tank and a heat lamp over. Also it's been 3 weeks now since the last feed.

If I pick it up and lower it back down i'll poke its head in the rock and go half way in. then turn around and head back out. Any one have any idea why this is happening and what I should try?

Are you using the same hides as before? Large open areas are very stressful for snakes, and being curled up in a corner can be a sign of stress. I would put more in there for ground cover, more hides, branches, fake plants and so on to give him more options to hide and help make him feel safer. If he's refusing food its more then likely due to stress too, he just doesnt feel comfortable in his new home.

Yes I am using the same hides, but they haven't been used sine the new tank. She comes out to explore the tank every night but find her coiled up in the same corner or burrowed under the substrate every morning.

I agree, your snake is most likely stressed out because of the move. give her a little time, especially since she has never been moved out before.
