You can't tell its juts a 50/50 guess. The only way to tell for sure is to have it pooped or probed. Probing being the best method to determine a female. BTW females can sometimes have spurs too & it is not an accurate way to sex a snake, Mark

well i was told by my herp friend at teh uni that a male snake has 2 spurs and a female usually has one if any showing. today i seen 2 spurs on my dremora so i am guessing dremora is a he!

LOL yeah OK tell him/her I found that pretty humorous & had a good laugh :). The spurs are actually "residual limbs" (think thats the proper term) from when they evolved from limbed creatures. Males do tend to have bigger more prominent spurs than their female counterparts, but if present females have 2 as well unless one was ripped off somehow or it just may not be visable. Thus why folks think the presence or lack of spurs can be used for sexing, but it can not. Again I'll state the only accurate ways to sex are "popping" for younger males as if you see their hemipenes you have seen their hemipenes ;) Probing for any older snakes & also to confirm females that were "popped" just because you didn't see them doesn't mean they aren't there ;) Probing will determine for sure the sex. If you see them locked up well you know you have a pair & if the snake is laying eggs its a girl. All the other BS folks hear/say spread around is just that BS. The males actually use spurs as part of their foreplay when mating, literally "spurring" the females in & around the tail area prior copulation. Theres todays lesson. Cheers Mark

I just made an assumption because Fluffy's owner wrote, Take a look at my son..." I didn't see any private parts, LOL. And I'm not psychic. I'm not even sure that my Tiny's a bouncing baby boy. That's just what his previous owner told me.
BTW, I love Fluffy's sofa and the video of him shedding. Tiny's shed many times but always late at night. It's just there in the AM, with him showing off his new vibrant colours, and we miss it every time.

"Fluffy" was probed by his breeder - he is a male.
