Hi everyone,
I figured I would show / share my Poor Man’s snake Rack System, that I keep my Juvie Boas in, it’s simple, low cost and it works.
Material list to build an exact replica of this Poor Man’s Rack is as follows.
Lumber
- 26 boards of 1 inch x 4 inch board ( I used the cheap kind ) $1.27 each
- 3 piece of 2 inch x 2 inch stock ( I used the cheap kind ) $1.09 each
Total for lumber $36.29 + Tax
1 1/2 inch wood Screws purchased in a box of 100 $5.98 + Tax
Carpenters Glue ( It's yellow ), small 350 ml container $3.98 + Tax
Precut all the material ahead of time.
- The risers are cut to 84 inch ( 7 feet high )
- Each shelf requires 4 pieces of 1 inch x 4 inch board cut to 37 1/4 inch long, plus 2 pieces of 2 inch x 2 inch stock cut to 17 inch long.
Assemble all the shelving by gluing the 1 inch x 4 inch board to the 2 inch x 2 inch stock, then screw them into place, once that is complete, start building the shelving system to the risers.
Please note that cheap / green lumber twists out of shape real fast, so plan on building this rack as soon as you come home with this lumber, once everything is glued and screwed, it stays put.
I will be building one more of these shortly, so I will take step by step Picts and make it into a tutorial / guide.
I use an 11 shelf system ( with 10 tubs up ) as seen in my Pict.
I also got help from my assistant that day lol

I use 40.1 L Rubbermaid containers aprox. size is 36 inch long x 16.5 inch deep x 6.5 inch high ( model 2119 ) usually purchased for $9.99, you can also use three of the smaller containers or one medium and one small.

I keep my Boas in these until there length reaches the length and depth of the tub, but before they get this size in girth lol
Tubs aprox. size is 36 inch long x 16.5 inch deep x 6.5 inch high.
