Yes they can. There are snake mites that only go after snakes & reptile mites that choose any reptile as a host. Mark

Yes but some mites are "host specific" meaning they only "feed" off of certain animals. A snake or reptile mite will not "feed" off of a mammal for example. There are also things such as wood mites that don't feed off of animals at all, Mark
would they make her stop eating?

I just used NIX.. I must say it is VERY effective. I got these damn mites from an expo (of course) and finally got rid of them. The scary thing is that there were ALOT more than I expected. I used a small bottle of it and diluted it to a gallon of water. I emptied the whole cage, sprayed down all the trees and hiding rock. I got a topper ware and made a small pool of the diluted NIX and put the snake in so that it would get them from the belly up. Sprayed down the cage and left it moist to kill the eggs I cant see around. Just put newspaper in the cage for acouple of days and noticed all the dead mites all over the place. Its a good way to see how bad the problem was. The whole crew is happy now. Make sure you don't touch your eyes or skin. The stuff is abit toxic to skin, burns abit. The snakes seem ok. Might not be the best suggestion to everyone but it works great for me.
