Merry Christmas! I'm Jewels! I'm new to this forum (obviously) and new to the snake hobby! My boyfriend bought me 4 green vine snakes for Christmas <3<3<3! (he caught me drooling over them when we were at a reptile shop buying roaches for our tarantulas). I've never owned a snake, but have read hours and hours of information online. Any information that anyone has to offer would be awesome!
My BF (Andy) already had a habitat set up for them, that I'm going to improve in the next few weeks. They are housed in a 30x12x18 (i think its about 30 gallons) tank with a fake plant, water dish, sphagnum moss and a lamp with a full spectrum bulb that we will turn off at night, the room temp is about 77-80 degrees.
We just fed them anoles and everyone ate up; these snakes have sooooo much personality from what I've observed just today and what I've read, I'm really excited!
Oh yeah! and just so that you all know, I already know they should be treated like hot snakes!
..and... Andy says he's pretty sure they are the asian variety...
...and.. I read (months ago) that there is a zoo with green vine snakes that eat guppies; has anyone heard of or tried this with theirs? I'd be really interested in making a "rainforest" style habitat and stocking it up with fish.
...and... My interest in owning exoctic "pets" is about 50% display; 50% interest in their behavior
okay. Have a great holiday, please send me info, on a post, pm (aim: Jewels0818) or email (spiderweb@myway.com).. sorry this post was sooo long!
