OK, before I start talking about my story. I have done alot of research regarding snakes not eating and tried almost everything except force feeding which I believe its not at that point yet. A buddy of mine got a Hogg Island Boa that is about 3-4 months old. He bought it from a breeder that told us that it is feeding on F/T rat pinkies. He followed all of the steps required to make the snake comfy from not handling and feeding for 1 week. Monitoring humidity/temp and making sure it has a proper hiding space. He has tried once a week since he got it and no luck. The snake seems to be moving around every so often as usual, he drinks water as usual, basks in the heats every so often. But the one thing that I noticed he is not as alert when you open the cage or anything nor does he flicker to smell until you poke him to move or something. He does seem somewhat insecure at times but it looks like he is molded to his surroundings. He knows where to hide, knows where to get water etc except no eating. We tried everything, nighttime feeding by leaving the pinkie in front of his hiding spot to trying to feed him in a rubbermaid in the dark. We also tried F/T fuzzys and no luck. We are lost. Its doesn't seem sick at all, it just looks like he has no sense on having a meal at all. We don't know perhaps it is sick but how would we know? I hope someone can help us here. My buddy is worried because it's his first snake but I told him to just be patience which is important. Thanks.

Your buddies first mistake is that he (to the snake) bombarded him and has not stopped. Has he left the snake to itself for at least two weeks? Babies dont tolerate constant meddling as well as an adult and some species require a much longer acclimation time.
Exactly how long has he had it?

it has gone up to 5 weeks as of now.. we are thinking of trying feeding it F/T mice or live mice as our last hope choices. Our next try for it to eat is this weekend. Thanks for replying..

Try a live pinky rat. If that doesn't work try a live adult mouse. The action and movement from the mouse might entice the snake to hunt.

"CASE CLOSED"

Yes, it has been finally solved. Aaron_S you are right! The snake needed to hunt and have a sense of challenge in order for it to eat. Right when I dropped the "hopper" in the cage the Hogg came out of it's hiding cave and hunted like a ninja in the dark. I am glad it finally ate. After some time I will try to have eat F/T rats again.. In the meantime there has been some time that has passed without eating so we need him eating regularly before any changes. Everyone thanks for your responses! Greatly appreciate it!:):):)
