After almost 20 years of fish breeding, I have just shut down over 40 aquariums as My love for Reptiles has grown. I have only a Flowerhorn in one 55 gallon soon to be a 117 gallon, a Red Devil in another 55 gallon a 40 gallon African tank and a 30 gallon killifish/planted tank. My first dealing with reptiles was incredible till the wifes cat found a way in. The biggest problem I have now is not where to put the reptiles but where to get them. Yorkton SK is Our closest center and the pet store is a horrible pit. I am wondering where I could make a trip to for the best herps. I am originally from Edmonton and I really don't see a lot of quality herp stores there. I know Calgary has some good stuff and Christian from Reptile rescue is always a great help. Is there anything in the Winnipeg, Regina or Saskatoon areas of value? I will not buy commission style pets, Petland, P.J.s etc... I also don't like the idea of shipping in the Winter so where would My best bet be for a trip? My interests on this trip would be a beardie a sandfish skink and possible a gecko if no sandfish are to be found. I have three tanks set up for them now all have lighting and under tank heating, all can be changed except the sandtank one day I will find him. I would say Winnipeg is closest and I know the City well, has anyone dealt with the herp place on Portage ave? Anyways, it's a nice change, to go from fish to herps now if I could trade Her cat in for a light bulb I'd have a good deal on My hands.
My other pets include a Boston Terrier and a Fila Brasilliero. My first lizard was Agama Agama, I bought it as "rainbow lizard but it turned out to be quadralineatus four lined lizard. He passed during a long power outage two winters ago. The cat got the leopard gecko, Maybe a snake would be a good idea, one that eats large cats, JK...
