The BP's I bought at the show were being fed... in my opinion, prey that was too small, and they were being fed live.

I am too squeamish for live, so I had planned to convert to FT.

It hasnt even been a week yet, and the female has been out for a couple of days, looking like she was on the hunt.

So I offered her an f/t adult mouse tonight, and whammo, she ate him.. though she had to let go off the butt end and reposition herself to eat the head.. but she did that, and down it went! YAY!!!! One down, one to go.

I offered the male but he wasnt interested, so I will probably wait out the rest of the two weeks before I offer again, unless I see him display the same hunty behavior.

That wasnt such a bad switch for the female! First try, and early, at that. I am pleased. Lets hope the male proves as adaptable!

Congrats. I find it much easier for a hatchling that is fed live mice to try live rats and eventually on to F/T rats. You're taking the long way 'round to eventually get to F/T rats.
Good luck.

My BP will eat a rock. Garbage Gut, someone said. No conversion necessary. That's part of the great thing about Balls.

There was another thread (is this hijacking?) that was talking about "difficult to keep" snakes and this is part of it.

My ATB is difficult to feed, or it just doesn't like to eat (conditions are proper!!) My ball and my rtb's eat ANYTHING. The White lip needs live and it seems to require the whole stalking process.

BPs are great. I could feed mine in my lap, have it constricting it's already dead prey, move it back into it's enclosure while it's "killing" and not disturb any of the process.

My white lip wouldn't eat for a month after that if I did it to him.

I think they were taking rat pups, too... but my LPS only sells adult rats, adult mice, and fuzzie and pinkie mice in the f/t section. I need to find a place around here that has more selection!!!

I never had a problem switching from f/t mice to f/t rats in the past, though.

People say balls are picky eaters but I never had any problems either. I am hoping my male will end up being a feeding champ, too.
