I read in a book or it might have been a web site stating that in order to keep venomous snakes at your home or property you need a License. In order to get this license you need 2 years exp. of handling venomous snakes. I was wandering just how authentic this statment was or if it is correct or outdated?

Most states require a permit or license to keep any hots that are not native to your area. Here in Arizona it's basically the same as you mentioned but with more restictions & they don't actually give them out to anybody except zoos and the phoenix herp society which houses confiscated animals for the state game & fish dpt. Read the laws pertaining to your state, you might even need a lisence to keep native rattlesnakes.

Evry single state (USA) & province (Canada) has their own laws pertaining to such. Also many Cities, towns, counties, municipal districts etc. all have their own bylaws to be taken into consideration as well. Basically its best to start with the local are you live (city, town. county, MD etc.) for bylaws & then check state or provinicial laws as well. Just because the state will allow it doesn't mena the county or city you live in will allow it ;) Mark
P.S. where I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada all venomous are restricted without a provincial permit & the city of Calgary may have a bylaw in reguards to such as well? Don't know as only Zoos etc. are even issued permits so I have never bothered to check it out in the cities bylaws.
