Just recently i changed the bedding from aspen to cypress mulch to help my ball python with his shedding problem. But in the mulch i see this teny tiny bugs that walk around. is this bad because i dont think the people who sell this stuff would sell it if they knew ther was little bugs that could harm your snake in anyway. My snake seems fine though but im just checking to be sure.

What do they look like?
Sometimes you get some of those little white bugs that like high humidity substrate and pop every once in awhile.
Just make sure that they aren't attached to your snake...if they are then you've got a mite issue.

Snake mites are usually red or black & when "popped" leave a smear of blood. Hopefully its just some wood mites from the new substrate. Mark
They're cream coloured. Wood mites. I get them in my shaved aspen as well. No harm to your snakes at all.

ive never seen any on my snake and i dont know how ticks or mites would get in his cage from outside so maybe they are just wood mites and to answer your question guru the only way i can desribe them as is that they are very tiny and white. also they hang out at the very bottom of the cage where the glass and substrate meet.

Well i would personally take your snake out and clean out the subtrate. If you have more subtrate check it and see whats inside. The store I bought my last bag of aspen from had mites. I did not realize it until it was to late. So I had to fight mites on 6 different snakes LoL. ours were black tho. So they are probably are wood mites.

But if they are the wood mites, then I guess you dont have to worry about them LoL.
