Funny you should ask, as there are a couple of us on here. So you are not alone. Welcome to the forum.

Hey does anybody near Edmonton know a snake breeder or someone that has a young king snake and is wanting to sell it; preferably female but it doesn't make a huge difference.
Please let me know or email me at lost_ice_angel@hotmail.com

A quick question since you are also from edmonton. There are going to be 2 reptile shows in edmonton this fall right? One at the Ogden legion and the other at the Sands inn, is this correct?
I haven't been to a reptile show yet, but my gf tells me they are a lot of fun, and there are a ton of snakes available. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, we can't make it to the big Red Deer show, but i want to see one this fall at a later date.
I am not sure about the one at the Ogden show, but I know ERAS will be having their show at the Sands Inn towards the end of September, but I have not heard anything about the other show yet.
It is a shame that you can not make it to the Red Deer show. From what I have heard it is a great show. With tons of animals for sale. I was hoping to go myself, but I am not so sure I will be able to make it now myself.

Will you be attending the Sands Inn show? Is there a large herp community in Edmonton?
We are hoping to find a adult Boa constrictor female to breed with our male. If ya hear of any, let me know. Thanks in advance.
I have made it to all the shows in Calgary and Edmonton so far this year, and will be attending the one in the fall in Edmonton. I am not sure if you will find an adult female at the show though. Might be better to post a message on ERAS forum once it is back online to see if anyone has an adult they would like to breed. As to their being a large herp community in Edmonton, I would have to say yes. Way larger then I expected myself.

That is good to hear. Me and my gf are going to start with breeding common boa's. Next year, we want to add a couple python morph breeding projects as well. We were curious if we were going to have to make most of our sales over the net or if there was much of a market in edmonton beyond pet stores. Good to know!
What all herps do you have?

Hey Jason...sorry, so you meant that there are a few king breeders in the area or that there are a few of you looking for kings?
I was referred to the sight by a friend who breeds corns but I dont really want a corn, so she said to ask on the forums of a couple different websites.
IceyBlue,
If you are looking for a King snake, I would suggest trying the Classified section of our website or on a couple Canadian forums.
Dr_Gonz0,
I do not really know about selling to the local stores as they are mostly box style pet stores know. You should be able to sell to the pet stores in St.Albert or Leduc as they are mom and pop pet shops so to speak. As to my pets currently I have a couple geckos as well as three red-ear sliders, a hamster and a handful of Hermit Crabs. I have had different snakes in the past from garters to red tail boas, but that was years ago. Still would like to pick up a garter snake if I could find the right one though.

a hair shy of 7'2". He is pretty slender though. We got him about 3 months ago off a girl we know, and i don't think she took the best care of him. She was only feeding him once every 3 weeks, and he had a couple scars. His tank was totally unsufficient as well. All that was in it was CEDAR wood chips, with a large rubber maid tub of water, no hiding spot what so ever which lead to burrowing, and both the UV and heat lamp were not working.. We went out the next day and replaced pretty much everything in his tank, and added what else he needed. It is still not very nice visually, however, at least his needs are now being met, he has proper hiding and basking spots.
I am not sure if his care was due to ignorance or laziness or perhaps a bit of both, but he was a well loved pet. He is a very well natured, and when it comes to taking him out of his cage , both my and i gf have no fear of handling him alone.
He definitely has personanilty though. Snorts when he doesn't get his way, and wags his tail from time to time, which i get a kick out of. He also seems to enjoy napping on our laps while we watch TV. A very curious and quirky snake indeed.

Hi & welcome. Well I can answer a few of folks Q's. I am a snake breeder & live in Calgary I work with both Graybanded, Florida & California Kingsnakes as well as Corns & various Aussie Pythons & various other Colubrid snakes. As far as common boas go there is not a huge market for them, everyone wants a morph. Won't be too easy too find a breedable adult female. In reguards to shows ther are 2 shows every year in Calgary (spring & fall) put on by TARAS (The Alberta Reptile & Amphibian Society) its the Calgary TARAS shows that are held at the Ogden Legion ;) ERAS the EDM version of TARAS puts on 2 shows a year as well (spring & fall). The Red Deer show is a private show put on by Walter & wil be the largest show in AB it this weekend at the Westerner in South RD. Walter also puts on a private show in EDM in the fall. Best bet to buy & sell herps is to attend all of the shows, the fall shows being more improtant than the spring ones. A far as Boas go the biggest pretty much most well known breeder in Canada is here in Calgary. My buddy Big Dan Uremovic of CDN Captive Bred has pretty much every type of boa & boa morphs that exist that are available on the CDN market as well as BP morphs. He, Corey Woods (Ontario) & other big BP breeders will be at the RD show this weekend as will some other big name AB & BC breeders. I attend/vend all the Calgary & Red Deer shows as well. A good spot to check into stuff is the Reptiles Canada classifieds as well as here, TARAS & ERAS forums. Anyone needing snake or other info can feel free to contact me, I pretty much know all the breeders that attend the shows. Mark gonesnakee@shaw.ca
