my BP is about a year old and 2.5-3 feet in length and about an inch and a half in diameter at widest. at night, lil sucker keeps trying to get out, I know its normal, but i see him pushing on the lid with all his might. hes seen me take it off a few times, and i guess he wants out to play and explore. but like i said, i was up tonight watching and he looks like a weight lifter whos reached his limit, like he'll push his snout against the wire mesh top with so much force he shakes for a moment, then he gives up and tries a different spot. hes currently housed in a 20 long and has bark for bedding and 2 hides. as well as some fake foliage and his soaking dish.. im just worried hes going to injure himself pushing so hard.

Wouldn't worry to much, it's hard for them to put too much force on it form that angle. Keep an eye on it though if it starts getting raw you may have to look into a taller tank.

Yea, that's the same thing my Colombian did in his 20L. He did obtain a scar, but it's hardly noticeable. Now he's in a custom tank and happier than ever.

You're in a match of wits with a ball python.
I'm sure you'll win....
