Hey there,

I'm "new" to the site I guess, well actually reborn. I was a member when this site first started and have since drifted away from it.

Back in the day I used to breed Giant day geckos and was able to get rid of them with no troubles. I'm looking into starting that up again but I'm not sure if the demand is the same (now that giecko uses cavemen as their mascott's).

If anyone has any tips or info on day gecko's popularity, or perhaps other breeds of lizard/reptile that are in demand (but not in great supply) I'd love to hear it.

Thanks a lot,

Ryan Monk

In all honesty, the only gecko trend that I have noticed is that when I first started in this hobby, Leos were extremely popular, now as time has progressed, they have competition as one of the more popular geckos as Crested Geckos are sneaking their way in. I don't see a lot of Fat Tail Geckos anymore which is a real shame.

I don't really know much more, I'm not a lizard girl. And welcome back to the site :)

Thanks, hopefully this site can become something like what it used to be. So far it's looking like it's heading that way.

The only problem with leopard geckos and cresteds is that they're everywhere! So there's stiff competition. I actually have been looking for a Cb fat tailed for a while and just got one 2 days ago (finally) when it grows up a bit I'm thinking i'll grab a mate and give breeding a shot.

Thanks again for your input,

Ryan

Fat tails are a steady market I believe. They don't have everyone picking them up by the masses but they are steady. Aslong as you didn't mass produce them you'd be ok to get rid of the babies.

Cresteds and leos will remain in the top. Ease of care and the colour variations is what seems to make a species more popular. Fat tails just don't have that yet. Gargoyles used to have a bit of a following when cresteds started. Just not the same the colour variety. I think fat tails would be a great way to go.

I'd totally buy some Fat Tails, especially if you got into the Stripes and Amels. hehe
