How do you know when a F/T is rotten? I had thawed a small mouse for my Dumeril and it's stomach was kind of black, but after some poking it started to bleed out. I can't remember how F/T small mice looked for with my other snake since it was so long ago, and I was worried it could've been bad. My sister trying to help went and fed him and now I'm worried sick.

It most likely is fine, the "dark belly" can be a product of freezing and all that other fun stuff. But it sure can be a mess! LOL

Oh good. I was terribly worried. This is the only the second F/T he's eaten after refusing to eat for 3 monthes. I didn't want to jinx him continuing eating F/T, or worse have him die. He's my baby.

I can understand that, the freezing process makes everything a little softer, especially the belly area. At anyrate it's happened to me before as well, and I have had no ill effects on the snakes from feeding them when that happens.

Snakes will eat carrion in the wild. If its too nasty they usually won't eat it or will puke it. So if it ate it & kept it down it was OK obviously, Mark
If it smells like rotting flesh, it's probably rotting flesh........

i know some suppliers here in the uk dont package the frozen food properly when delivered to the pet stores and it arrive partially defrosted and unfortunately they refreeze it which is totally wrong and the black belly can be the results of being defrosted more than once its gross but true
How long is it safe to offer a thawed mouse to a snake.
I gave it to him about 15 hours ago. at what point is it spoiled?

Yup, I'd try a freshly thawed one & if not interested within say half an hour, heat it up and try again, then if not after another hour toss it. They go bad very quickly, & overnight should be absolute max so maggots & stuff don't come around your snake.
