I don't think snakes or lizards should be ban! I do think they should be regulated a little more than what they are. The only reason I say that is because I rescue and find that soooo many reptile owners have NO clue how to care for them. I rescued a burm a couple of weeks ago that was kept in a box and an iguana tonight that was also kept in a box.
There are people like us that care enough to do our research and set up a proper environment for these guys, then you have the nimrods that just think it's cool and don't take care of them properly. The nimrods give the rest of us a bad name and cause these laws to go into effect. The lawmakers just don't understand any of us. Heck, in PA you can walk into a pet store and buy an American Alligator for $60.00 no questions asked, no permits needed, but when the gator gets bigger, what then? People just dump them in local ponds, etc. I've rescued an alligator too, but I have 2 acres of land and a huge pond with a fenced yard. Ignorant people just irritate the crap out of me. ok, guess I'm done ranting and raving, sorry. lol

I completely agree with you Snakelady. I strongly agree with Florida's approach on animals. They recently (I believe it passed)made all of the giants require a permit. To obtain the permit you need to have mentorship with a liscenced owner who will train and educate you. They then signoff on your permit and you are then authorized to get the snakes you need. You can legally get any animal as long as you go through thte proper steps. Also this allows teh state Fish and Wildlife to keep records on owners and make routine check ups on them to ensure they are providing the proper care. Todd

that's great if that law passed! Pennsylvania is still in the stone ages.
