First of all as you can see im new to the sight and Ive got a few different questions. Just hope its not annoying anyone :).. but Ive got 5 snakes right now and a dwarf caiman. Ive got 2 Red Tail boas, Ball python, Yuma King snake, and a Amazon Tree boa. Im looking for 3 or 4 of new ones, but im not sure what are some other good picks. I kinda want some that are pretty active but not 15 feet or anything. Just wondering if anyone had any good ideas.

If you are looking for active snakes you'll have to look into the colubrids, you'll want something that is more on the Diurnal side, Bulls, Pines, Rats, stuff of that nature....a lot of Colubrid species are fairly active during the day...most boas and pythons don't start moving around until after the lights go out.

Yea the caiman is awsome. he's suppose to be a dwarf one. So I guess I will find out in a year or so eh? he's only about 12 to 15 inches long right now. And he's really not in a hurry to grow. :) but he does eat like a horse
WHERE DID YOU GET HIM there illegal in canada

New medium sized cool looking snakes huh? I agree with the Snake Guru. Colubrids are great. You can find some really coloful milk snakes. Dumeral Boas are nice looking too. If you have the $ there are some awesome looking ball python morphs. And I highly recommend a northern pine or western hognose. Let us know what you decide on.

Yea I dont think any animals are illegal in Texas other than piranhas.. They sell them in a few pet stores around here. I could actually buy a croc if I wanted but dont think I want one of those. :)

Actually yes Ive done lots and lots of reading on them, I understand that he's going to get huge eventually. Already planning how to build his cage for when he does get bigger. But im still looking for a couple more snakes that are active and med sized.

No they are not illegal in Canada. Canada does not have country wide reptile laws. Every province has its own laws on which species are legal to keep. On top of that there are bylaws for Cities & Municipalities (sp?) etc. Caimans are legal in a few provinces for sure unless in conflict with other local bylaws. Even in areas where "illegal" tey are not "illegal" but require special permits. Just like Neil's Burm it is a "restricted species" in AB but is kept by him legally with a special permit ;) Mark

If you're looking to purchase a burm, your best bet is to by from Jim Mason a.k.a "Bebo"
He specializes in breeding burms, and as pretty much every burm morph out there, and a very good reputation.
